Northeast India has marked significant progress in Education. It has an impact in improving the literacy rates and holds great promise for future growth and development driven by digitalisation, technological advancements and targeted government policies.
NEP2020 provides an opportunity to align curricula with local languages, economic needs and leveraging opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship and addressing employment challenges. High primary school enrolment, an increase in private unaided schools, establishment of universities and premier higher education institutions has helped improve education quality and overall digital infrastructure.
Various Government policies and initiatives, including The Digital India Program, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Teacher Training Program etc. aim to improve infrastructure, accessibility and bridge the gap between the region’s unique cultural heritage and economic development. To promote skill development and fostering socio-economic development in this region, government is focusing on creating a skilled workforce, establishing multi-skill institutes and specialized skill centres. Also, Continuous efforts by private institutions include investing in modern infrastructure, like high-speed internet, digital devices, and online resources to create smart classrooms and enable technology-driven teaching and learning from the primary to the higher education levels, vocational education and training. All these joint efforts are preparing students for the demands of the 21st century, job creation and improve living standards in the region.
This biggest flagship event will witness the presence of senior leadership from the schools & higher education fraternity of north-eastern region. The representation of academicians and educators will be majorly from the eight northeast states of India — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura (popularly known as the ‘Seven Sisters’), and the ‘brother’ state of Sikkim.
