Ola Electric Launches An All-women Plant With More Than 10,000 Employees

As part of its next phase of production, Ola Electric has established an all-women shopfloor for the #Futurefactory. Eventually, the plant, in Tamil Nadu, which is probably the largest in the world to be operated by a ‘100 per cent women’ workforce, will eventually have more than 10,000 employees. This all-women factory covers an area of about 500 acres, and is a major step that Ola has taken as part of its diversity and inclusion agenda. This is also proof of the Company’s commitment to providing more economic opportunities for women. The Company has made significant investments in training and upskilling women in core manufacturing skills so that they are capable of shouldering and carrying out the entire production process of the vehicles manufactured at the Futurefactory. As per a tweet by Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, Ola, this factory is the Company’s contribution towards an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, which can only be achieved if the women of India are ‘aatmanirbhar’. The Company believes that only if women are empowered and offered opportunities to become economically independent and strong can their own lives and their families’ be improved. This, in turn, helps improve the condition of the larger community. Ola had revealed plans to invest Rs 2,400 crore in its electric scooter factory in Tamil Nadu, last year. Many companies gave a better hike to employees despite the second wave hitting the market

According to industry experts and a recent survey, the second wave impact seems muted with the green shoots visible across sectors. As per data, the actual average salary increments for 2021 across companies in the country was 7.9% as compared to 7.3%, which was the projection in March, from the Covid-19 impact and HR Trends’ survey by human resources consulting firm OmamConsultants. Following the current scenario, HR and compensation experts consider higher increments due to various factors which involve the economy doing better on an overall basis. On the other hand, some companies also attempted for higher increment for making up with the last year’s non increment gap of employees, in particular sectors that are doing well during the pandemic and it is setting the new trends of life for corporate India. OTT platforms aiming towards more release of kid’s specific programs with original Intellectual property

Most of the video streaming platforms are betting heavily on the kid’s prone content, especially towards the original animation IPs (intellectual properties), as its clear children have been staying mostly athome due to the pandemic and schools shut. The government refuses to accept 14 Collegium picks for HC Judges

The union government has refused to accept the 14 names for appointment in the high court as judges, asking the Supreme Court collegium to review its recommendations. These numbers included the oldest recommendations made by the collegium back in July 2019.  As per the people who are in contact with the development, the government took more than a year to decide on returning 10 of these 14 names whereas two of them have been sent back for the second time even after the collegium reiterated them. The names which were returned for reconsideration this month included five names for appointment in the Calcutta High court, which was pending with the government since July 2019, despite the final recommendation from the SC collegium. In the same way, one name for Jammu and Kashmir has been pending for 21 months while the other one was not accepted by the governmentfor the same court and was forwardedin March this year after additional inputs. OTT platforms have boomed in the time of the pandemic. When movie theaters were shut and daily soaps were stopped, a new adoption of entertainment related to the OTT platforms likes; Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5, and many more took place.
