Dr. S. Uma Gowrie

Dr. S. Uma Gowrie is a distinguished academician, researcher, and education leader with over two decades of excellence in teaching, research, and academic administration. Currently serving as Principal and Secretary of Ethiraj College for Women (Autonomous), she has played a transformative role in advancing higher education and institutional growth. A scholar in Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, she holds degrees from Bharathiar University and Annamalai University, including a Gold Medal in M.Sc. With 27+ years of teaching experience, she has published over 46 research papers, authored books and chapters, guided scholars, and adjudicated Ph.D. theses. As Dean of Research and leader of innovation initiatives, she actively promotes academic excellence, sustainability, and student development. Her outstanding contributions have been recognized through several prestigious state, national, and international awards.
