Prof. (Dr.) Chattar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rai Technology University, Emphasizes on Importance of Skill Development for the Present Generation of Students

“Students need hands-on experience through workshops, laboratories, and fieldwork,” says Prof. (Dr.) Chattar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Rai Technology University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bangalore? It’s a great thing that ArdorComm has come to South India, and there’s a lot happening here. This time there’s a special feature where school education and higher education are combined, which is a good beginning. It allows for the exchange of ideas and sharing of similarities, including admissions and syllabus. It’s important for higher education to understand the challenges in school education and vice versa. What’s your take on skill development for this present generation of students? The government of India, through NEP 2020, has increased the focus on skill education. Industry 4.0 emphasizes practical learning from theory to practice, including digital learning, machine learning, and more. Students need hands-on experience through workshops, laboratories, and fieldwork. Collaboration between universities and industries is essential to equip students with skills to become entrepreneurs or secure good jobs. How do forums like this benefit the education sector? Such forums enhance the capabilities of the education sector by promoting collaboration between various stakeholders. Government, private institutions, and industry players should come together to focus on skilled education, improving employability and entrepreneurship. Any message for ArdorComm Media Group, which has completed 2 years of its existence? I wish ArdorComm continues its progressive approach, bringing together government, private players, and all stakeholders in education. They should align their efforts with the goals of NEP 2020. Congratulations to ArdorComm for completing two years, and I hope they continue their good work for many more years to come.

Dr. Vinay S, Director, Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies, Shares Insights on Technology Implementation in Education

“We’re transitioning from traditional coaching to modern technology, including MOOCs and ERP-related systems,” says Dr. Vinay S, Director, Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How was your experience to witness this New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? This is the second time I am coming. ArdorComm organized it beautifully to connect institutions and leaders. We interacted to discuss the state of the education system, its link with companies, new technologies, and what we can adopt to enhance knowledge from both institutional and student perspectives. It’s a great platform for self-improvement. How are you implementing technology in your institution? Our institution, Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies, part of an educational trust, is 93 years old. I head the Management Studies department, which is 23 years old. We’re transitioning from traditional coaching to modern technology, including MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and ERP-related systems. We’re also using the Learning Management System (LMS) model. How does this kind of forum benefit the education sector at large? It’s definitely beneficial, but the challenge is in how we adopt these changes and show interest. If we show interest, the next generation of students will benefit. If not, they might miss out on opportunities. ArdorComm Media Group has completed two years of its journey, any messages or good wishes for us? I’m very happy; this is the second time I am coming. They’ve beautifully arranged it, and they keep updating us with information. I congratulate ArdorComm and wish them all the best. We expect more from them in the future.

Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro Chancellor, Alliance University, Highlights Significance of Skill Development and Technology Integration in Education

“We must create an environment that fosters skill absorption and includes innovative assessments that cannot be manipulated,” says Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro Chancellor, Alliance University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness this New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? I think this is a much-called-for event, and many such events must happen in today’s day and age, especially in Bangalore. Calling it the “new normal” in Bangalore may not be entirely accurate, as Bangalore is in the lap of Silicon Valley in the East. Increasingly, technological developments are happening here, with tech and fintech firms and great educational institutions in the K12 and higher education sectors. The adoption of technology and the harmonious marriage of physical and digital is very apparent in Bangalore, making it an example for creative initiatives by schools, universities, and colleges in the educational ecosystem. So, this event is much called for, and I’m eager to listen to the other panellists. Could you highlight some initiatives that you are taking under your leadership at your university? At Alliance University we have begun this marriage between physical and digital much before and of course came the advent of covid 19, the pandemic in a way forced every stakeholder to sort of adopt into this environment more rapidly having said that use of technology is not new to our university. Just to give you an example quoting covid for example, we were recognized globally as one of the most engaging universities in collaboration with a leading online skill-based course provider. We competed with international universities and set this as a new normal. Our ecosystem, from student registration to classes and collaboration, heavily involves technology. What’s your take on skill development for students? In today’s world, skilling and upskilling are constant needs. Skills come in various forms, from domain-specific skills to interpersonal and industry-specific skills. Students learn skills at their own pace, anywhere, and at any time. However, we must create an environment that fosters skill absorption and includes innovative assessments that cannot be manipulated. Skills are evolving rapidly, and students must adapt to this constant change. In forums like this, where education leaders, EdTech players, and government representatives come together, how do these forums benefit the education sector at large? These forums serve as platforms for ideation, bringing together thought leaders from government, industry, and enablers. They also attract students who can benefit from these discussions. These forums allow for engaging, pertinent discussions, highlighting challenges and opportunities. Collaboration and networking are key outcomes of such events. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any wishes or message for us? I wish that more such companies come, I wish for your company to grow many folds because this is an area where collaborators have to play a very important role and these bridges that are created need to be fostered so all the best.

Dr. Mahesh KM, Principal, JGI, SBM Jain Evening College, Shares his Experience of Attending New Normal ELSA Bengaluru

“This platform is bringing together everything that is required for our society,” says Dr. Mahesh KM, Principal, JGI, SBM Jain Evening College, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? This is my second experience in this particular Summit. When they started after COVID-19, there were a lot of changes and real experiences. They are addressing what the society and the present generation require when it comes to educational institutions. What teachers, education institutions, and students require – they’re bringing all these aspects together on one platform to emphasize the growth of both institutions and students. When institutions grow, they require a lot of changes. For example, LinkedIn and the Jain Group of institutions have partnered up. Our chairman has tied up with LinkedIn to offer courses as internal assessments for our students. This platform is bringing together everything that is required for our society. As you know, in forums like this, we bring in educational leaders, EdTech players, and government representatives. How does this kind of forum benefit the education sector? The education sector is going through a lot of changes. For example, in the admission process, we require automation. This platform provides insights into the software needed for the admission process. It also covers aspects related to the assessment process, such as digital courses, or any other platform that relates to admissions. This platform is vital for addressing the evolving needs of the education sector. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any messages or wishes for them? I want to congratulate the entire team at ArdorComm. I’ve experienced their growth from the first anniversary to now. They are doing great work both at an international and state level. My best wishes are always with ArdorComm. Congratulations and God bless the entire team and the founder behind it.

Chirag Agarwal, Founder Director, EarlyVentions – Chain of Preschools, Emphasizes on Importance of Teacher Training

“We have a unique concept of peer-to-peer learning, where teachers can learn from their peers,” says Chirag Agarwal, Founder Director, EarlyVentions – Chain of Preschools, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bangalore? It’s a wonderful experience, as always. I’ve been associated with ArdorComm Media since its inception, and it’s always been a delight to be a part of this event. As you know, the theme of our event is “New Normal Karnataka.” What’s your take on this? Well, the new normal is already set in. We are talking about technology, AI, Chat GPT, and whatnot. So definitely, that is the new normal. As educators, we need to embrace it with both hands, and that’s the way forward. How are you implementing technology in your chain of preschools? Of course, preschools are called play schools for a reason, so too much technology cannot be implemented as interpersonal and social skills are essential. However, I do agree that we need to use technology as a tool to enhance the educational aspect. How do you take care of teacher training? Teacher training is crucial because if the teacher is not adequately trained, she cannot effectively educate others. We have a unique concept of peer-to-peer learning, where teachers can learn from their peers. Additionally, we have our own training team that takes care of day-to-day training. Training is implemented from the centre manager level down to the teaching assistants and other staff. What’s your take on skill development for this generation? Skill development is the most important aspect of education. Skills are required in everyday life, from basic tasks like holding a glass of water correctly to more complex ones like ironing clothes or getting ready for school. As educators, we need to teach life skills alongside academic knowledge. In events like these, where education leaders, EdTech players, and government officials come together, how do they benefit the education sector? Such events provide an opportunity to connect with people, build networks, and exchange ideas. The integration of the education fraternity with the government can lead to meaningful collaborations and innovations in the education sector. ArdorComm Media Group has completed two years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? Congratulations to ArdorComm Media for completing two successful years. I wish you all the very best and hope that you continue to excel in hosting events that allow us to connect and network with so many people.

Dr. Kiran Reddy, Founder of AIMS Institutes, Discusses the Role of Digitalization and Skill Development in Education

“Companies are looking for multi-disciplinary skills in students, and the skills we develop in them are critical,” says Dr. Kiran Reddy, Founder of AIMS Institutes in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bangalore? I feel that this is a wonderful event wherein you have touched upon the very relevant topic that we need to concentrate on. The higher education space is changing critically, and there is a drastic change where we need to think about digitalization and taking the help of technology to make students ready for it. The topics revolve around this, and the way you’ve chosen the topics and the panellists are excellent. The outcomes of these panel discussions will help the institutions to think over and go back with a lot of takeaways on how we can move towards digitalization. Companies like Anthology and the digital providers have presented well on how they can help us in creating institutions that embrace digitalization. What’s your take on skill development and the multi-disciplinary approach in education? Skill development and a multi-disciplinary approach are something we cannot do away with, especially in the post-pandemic era. Companies are looking for multi-disciplinary skills in students, and the skills we develop in them are critical. Employability is a key focus, and skill development is crucial. Multi-disciplinary education is also important because students need diverse skills that are not limited to a single discipline. For instance, skills like AI (Artificial Intelligence) should be available to not just computer science students but also management graduates who can use them in both their professional and personal lives. So, multi-disciplinarity is essential. How are you implementing technology in your institution? We have developed our own modules for admissions and have transitioned to a paperless administration. We use various apps and platforms to connect with students, share assignments, and distribute documents such as certificates and results. We conduct assessments using MCQs, where questions are automatically generated for each student. We are also exploring more integrated solutions, and your event has helped us in understanding who the right partners are for this. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed its two-year journey. Any message or wishes for us? Since its inception, ArdorComm Media Group has been moving in the right direction. Their involvement in the education sector and the way they bring together allied service providers to these events is an excellent initiative. We know that they are one of the best in bringing up these conclaves, summits and events. I wish them all the best and look forward to many more events from them.

Dr. C. Manohar, Senior Director, ISBR; Chairman – BMA Industry Academia Partnership Initiative, Emphasizes on New Normal Karnataka

“Today the learning space is huge at the same time learning potential is also very high so to match this we have to bring the right kind of content, methodology and the technology adoption,” says Dr. C. Manohar, Senior Director, ISBR; Chairman – BMA Industry Academia Partnership Initiative, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? The summit is very good, very well, I would say. The architecture by design and the structure in terms of content, the choice of speakers is very comprehensive. It covers everything from preschool to higher education. The design of the event is excellent. The theme of the event is “New Normal Karnataka.” What’s your take on this? It’s a timely theme. The new normal in Karnataka is not significantly different from the national new normal, except for some policy differences due to political orientations. We hope that what emerges from the state education policy will be positive. Cooperation among all stakeholders is crucial. This includes policy makers, infrastructure providers, educators, students, parents, and even the corporate sector. Technology providers, especially in the EdTech space, play a significant role. We are still evolving in the EdTech sector, and the market needs are changing. Capability building is essential for educators to meet these evolving needs. I would say we are still in the possibly higher space of evolution now the covid gave us a chance to experiment explore and then come to some level of validation. Now it has changed the market is different today, the market needs are different, today capability building is a continuous effort and all the educators have to constantly focus on that to come with something new and that is where the new era of education is what we see, new era in terms of time, in terms of space and time, in terms of our audience, our audience are today very intellectual, the children from young age to the adult learners. Today the learning space is huge at the same time learning potential is also very high so to match this we have to bring the right kind of content, methodology and the technology adoption. How does a forum like this benefit the education sector? Such forums are essential because they connect people. When we meet and interact, we understand each other’s pain points and possibilities. Bringing together policymakers, school and college management, tech players, and other stakeholders allows us to collaborate and make education better. It’s a great opportunity for interaction and understanding each other’s needs to bring out our best potential. I must congratulate ArdorComm Media. Your events have been consistently elevating year after year.

Dr. Madhusudan N. Purohit, Dean (IQAC) at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, Shares Insights on Technology Integration in Education

“We introduced online teaching and developed an in-house system to reach all our students,” says Dr. Madhusudan N. Purohit, Dean (IQAC) at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? Thank you very much for the opportunity. I represent JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, which is a deemed university from Mysuru. This is the first time that I’m participating in such an event, and I congratulate ArdorComm for bringing educational experts from across the globe and Karnataka. This is a wonderful opportunity for educators like me, teachers, and representatives of the education sector. In the morning session, I saw vice-chancellors of several universities sitting at one platform, discussing the real situations, both pre and post-COVID, and how the system is evolving. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the new trends in educational technology. I hope ArdorComm continues to conduct such events and expands its reach to other cities beyond Bangalore and Kolkata, reaching out to the northern part of Karnataka and other educational institutions that may not have the opportunity to come to metros to learn. So, that’s my suggestion, and again, I congratulate the ArdorComm team for conducting this wonderful event. How are you implementing technology in your institution? As one of the panellists mentioned earlier, before the pandemic, we were predominantly offline. However, when COVID hit in 2020, we had to respond urgently to ensure that teaching and learning continued. JSS’s tagline is “Graduation on time,” and we were committed to ensuring that students graduated on schedule. We had to adopt the concept of “Learn Anywhere, Anytime.” We introduced online teaching and developed an in-house system to reach all our students. Our goal was to make sure that 100% of the classes took place, even during the toughest times, such as the first and second COVID waves. We provided students with access to teaching materials, ensuring that graduation occurred on time. As a result, our graduation was on schedule, and placement opportunities for our students were excellent, making us a role model in this regard. That’s the JSS experience I wanted to share. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? Even though ArdorComm is just in its infancy, in two years, they have shown great promise. I wish them all the best and encourage them to expand their reach, identify more cities, and make their presence felt in various locations.

Dr. Prakash S, Sr. Vice President, East Point Group of Institutions, Emphasizes on Importance of Skill Development

“What we should be able to do is identify the talent DNA of a particular child at an early stage and embed the right skills for that talent,” says Dr. Prakash S, Sr. Vice President, East Point Group of Institutions, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? It’s a great experience here, completely packed sessions, nice to listen from Col. (Prof) Y. S. Siddegowda, Higher Education Council’s Vice Chairman, had a lot of insights, and there are many good speakers you have picked for the sessions. The themes are very good, and there’s good networking quite naturally. It’s always getting people moving to get connected. What I feel is that now the technology is going to take the education sector, and a lot of transformation is happening in the education sector post-COVID. This is where all educators, industry, and academic people come to converge at one point. I feel happy that you people have created a great platform for this convergence and where interaction will happen, so it adds a lot of value to all the stakeholders here. The theme of our event is New Normal Karnataka, and Karnataka is an education hub. What’s your take on this? Karnataka, more specifically Bangalore, is a Silicon City where a lot of IT happens. Since the education sector is at the verge of transformation and the National Education Policy (NEP) is in place now, what I see is that the way we deliver education services is going to take a paradigm shift. This is one platform where we have LinkedIn, and people from LinkedIn have participated. LinkedIn is a great platform for learning today, a lot of people know about Anthology, Blackboard, and other companies. So, understanding the technology and how we can integrate it into our teaching and learning process, building it out, is where teachers can understand how to facilitate the teaching-learning process and enhance the productivity for the student and all the stakeholders. What’s your take on skill development? How can the young generation in this 21st century hone skill development for employability? I always tell this, I’ve been speaking at different platforms on this. We have talent on one side and there are skills, competency, and capability. If I want to connect all the four dots, if I go back and see my complete education system, probably in my times, our talent DNA was something different, and we had different skills. What we should be able to do is identify the talent DNA of a particular child at an early stage and embed the right skills for that talent. Then the student will excel in whatever profession they aspire to. Today, it’s all about the skills. LinkedIn, for instance, added around 33 million skill sets onto their platform. It’s not about the degree; the degree has taken a backseat. Now, if you have skills, you are deployable from day one. The focus is shifting towards skilling, and it’s the new norm. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? It’s a nice initiative, and you are very young. I just came to know that you are just 2 years old. I wish you all the best. You’re doing a great job, especially towards the education sector. You need to continue this and do it at a bigger, larger scale for the next time. I’ll be happy to participate in the next coming events.

Dr. N. R. Bhanumurth, Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, Highlights Significance of Education 4.0 and Digital Innovation

“We are talking about Education 4.0, where the education sector needs to adapt to the emerging challenges, especially coming from digital innovation,” says Dr. N. R. Bhanumurth, Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bangalore? Yeah, this is very interesting, I would say. It’s very timely, where this whole Summit is integrating users and producers of Education technology, and some of the best practices have been highlighted throughout the day. I’m sure the title of this Summit, “New Normal,” is certainly a new normal in the education sector. We are talking about Education 4.0, where the education sector needs to adapt to the emerging challenges, especially coming from digital innovation. At the same time, bridging the gap between supply and demand in the industry, where the necessary skills required for employability of students become a major factor going forward. Especially when we talk about India becoming one of the developed countries, I think the education sector is going to play a very major role, and this Summit is certainly a big contributor to making India a place for the education sector, not only for Indian students but also for attracting more students from abroad. How are you implementing technology in your institution? I’m from a public sector university, and we have synergized our curriculum where the National Education Policy suggests that we can have up to 40% digital learning. We started implementing it slowly and are trying to implement whatever flexibility is available in the National Education policy. We are one of the early universities to implement digital education for our students and make it customized for each student, which gives a lot of flexibility. At the same time, we’re seeing students using resources available on digital platforms. The progress in the Indian education sector has increased inclusivity for all students, but there’s still a long way to go, and some segments still exclude students. That’s where the sector needs to play a major role going forward. Any message or wishes for ArdorComm Media Group, which has recently completed 2 years of its existence? I would say that you are doing a great service to the nation, particularly in bringing together users and producers. My suggestion is that it’s important to equally focus on the public sector. You will play a major role and contribute significantly to the nation. India has been at the forefront of bringing digital public infrastructure, not just for our nation but for the whole world. The aim of ArdorComm Media should be to have inclusivity in terms of getting more public institutions. The long-term game lies in the public sector, in my view. The private sector is short-term, but the long-term game lies in public sector.
