Moj, the short-video platform owned by Mohalla Tech, has surpassed 500 million downloads on the Google Play Store, marking another milestone for the homegrown social media company. According to the company, Moj ranks fourth in India’s Social Media category on the platform and is the only Indian app among the top four.
The platform generates more than one billion video plays daily and records nearly 300 minutes of usage per user each month. Launched in 2020, Moj has built a network of over three million creators and offers content in multiple Indian languages.
The introduction of ad-supported micro-dramas last year has significantly boosted engagement, with daily time spent per user more than doubling to nearly 50 minutes. The platform has also become an important source of income for creators, who collectively earn close to ₹100 crore annually.
Moj reported 100% year-on-year revenue growth over the past 12 months, attributing part of the expansion to rising advertiser interest in micro-dramas, commerce integrations and branded content.
Ankush Sachdeva, CEO and co-founder of Mohalla Tech, said the 500-million-download milestone reflected the trust and engagement of users across India. He added that Moj would continue to focus on stories, creators and trends representing the country’s linguistic and cultural diversity while helping brands engage audiences through immersive storytelling.
