Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar Agrawal is the President (Vice Chancellor) of Nirwan University, Jaipur. He passed his M.A. in 1976 and topped Department of Sociology, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Thereafter, he was awarded Junior Research Fellowship to pursue M. Phil/Ph.D. Programme in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He served University of Rajasthan since 1979 to 2012 for 32 years. Prof. Agrawal was awarded Salzburg Seminar Fellowship in 1985. He is the only Sociologist in India to be awarded coveted German Academic Exchange Fellowship in 1986 to pursue his doctoral research in Weberian Sociological Theory in Heidelberg University till 1989. In 1994, Prof. Agrawal was awarded prestigious UGC Career Award for excellence in research. He was appointed by Hon’ble President of India as the first and founder Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari (Bihar). He was also instrumental in developing a new central university in Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala as OSD (Academics). Prof. Agrawal has published seven books and written multiple research articles. Rajasthan Sociological Association felicitated Prof. Agrawal with Life Time Achievement Award for his excellent and relentless contribution to Sociology in specific and academia in general.
