England to Revamp School Curriculum: Students to Learn About Fake News and AI

In the most significant education overhaul in over a decade, schoolchildren in England will soon be taught how to identify fake news and gain a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence. The move comes as part of the UK government’s wider plan to modernise education and equip students with essential skills for the future. Following the recommendations of the Curriculum and Assessment Review released on Wednesday, the Department for Education (DfE) announced sweeping reforms designed to prepare young learners for the evolving digital and economic landscape. Among the proposed changes is a 10% reduction in the number of exams faced by teenagers, addressing concerns that the current assessment load is “excessive.” “From the basics of reading to the modern-day challenge of spotting misinformation, these landmark reforms form part of our Plan for Change,” said Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson. “It’s been more than ten years since the national curriculum was updated, and it’s vital that students are prepared to meet today’s challenges and seize tomorrow’s opportunities.” Under the revised framework, primary school students will be introduced to lessons on detecting misinformation and disinformation, aimed at strengthening their critical thinking and online safety. They will also study financial literacy topics such as mortgages, debt, and money management, alongside enhanced reading and communication skills. The reforms also propose a compulsory citizenship module, which will include climate education, a new foreign language qualification, and greater emphasis on outdoor learning and sports. Jane Gratton, Deputy Director of Public Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce, welcomed the move, saying: “Businesses will support curriculum changes that build employability — from teamwork and communication to digital and financial skills. Ensuring that every student has access to meaningful qualification pathways will help them stay engaged and ready for the world of work.” The new curriculum is set to roll out in September 2028, with the final version expected by early 2027, giving schools four terms to prepare for the transition. CBSE to Roll Out Educational Podcasts, Invites Student Participation from Classes 9–12

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a new initiative to develop its own series of educational podcasts and digital content, covering both academic and counselling themes. The board stated that these resources are being designed to offer valuable insights, guidance, and awareness for students, parents, and schools alike. To ensure accessibility, the podcasts will also be released on public platforms such as YouTube. According to CBSE, the move is aimed at strengthening its existing academic and counselling support system by introducing a more flexible, digital-friendly format. The content will focus on topics like exam preparation, academics, mental well-being, and student welfare. Involving Students’ Voices To make the project more engaging, CBSE plans to integrate student perspectives into the podcasts. Students will be encouraged to contribute through short video or audio snippets, testimonials, and interactive discussions. These inputs will be featured on CBSE’s podcasts, social media platforms, and other digital communication channels, making the content more relatable and student-focused. How Schools Can Participate The board has directed affiliated schools to nominate students from Classes IX to XII who are confident, articulate, and interested in taking part. Participation is voluntary and requires written consent from both the students and their parents or guardians, submitted through the respective school. Schools have been asked to share names and brief profiles of nominated students through a Google form link provided by CBSE. The nominations must be submitted within 10 days of the notice being issued. The board emphasized that this is an optional opportunity meant to give students a platform to share their views while enhancing CBSE’s outreach and communication efforts. Source: Indian Express

Dr. Tanuja Pokhariyal, Principal, Doon International Public School, Rishikesh shares her insights at ArdorComm Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2025 in Dehradun

Tanuja Pokhariyal

Welcome to the event! Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your school? Thank you! I am Dr. Tanuja Pokhariyal, Principal of Doon International Public School in Rishikesh. It’s a CBSE-affiliated school, running from Nursery to Grade 12. We are located in the spiritual city of Rishikesh—Tapovan and Devbhoomi. Our school caters to over 1,300 students, most of whom come from middle-class backgrounds. While many parents may not be fully aware of the opportunities in education and technology, we at the school strive to expose both students and parents to the evolving educational landscape. Our teachers work very hard to bridge that gap. How has your experience been so far at the ArdorComm Media event? It’s truly a great opportunity for leaders like us. What’s amazing is that people from diverse backgrounds—education, technology, AI—have gathered here, and we get to interact with them and learn. I visited a few counters where they discussed AI integration into the curriculum and shared tools being used to enhance classroom learning. It’s been a pleasure being part of this platform. The presence of VCs, professors, principals—so many knowledgeable people—makes it a learning ground for all, not just the speakers. We’re not only talking about tech and AI, but also how it impacts society and how students should be guided to use these technologies ethically. ArdorComm Media is celebrating its fourth anniversary today. Would you like to share a few words? First of all, congratulations to ArdorComm Media on completing four successful years! You’ve organized this event wonderfully. The platform brings together the right people and organizations—it’s very well curated. Events like this give all of us, including schools, colleges, and universities, valuable exposure. Wishing you all the best for your future journey, and we definitely look forward to being part of more such events.

Commander Monika Pande, Principal, Doon Global School, Dehradun says Self-Discipline is the Foundation of True Learning, at ArdorComm Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2025 in Dehradun

Commander Monika Pande

Could you tell us more about your school? Doon Global School is located in Jhajra, Dehradun, and we have around 800 students, including 150 boarding students. The school is progressing well. We are aligned with the NEP and focus on inclusive education—welcoming differently-abled students as well. It’s important not just for them to learn from us, but also for us to learn from them. Empathy develops naturally in such an environment. We’re implementing innovative practices like bagless days, activity-based learning, and vocational courses from pre-primary up to Class 12. You also come from a defence background. How does your school approach discipline and sports? Discipline, to me, begins with self-discipline. As educators, we can guide and mentor, but a child must take responsibility for their own education. That’s where real learning begins. When leaders show self-discipline, others follow. Regarding sports, our school has excellent facilities—futsal, box cricket, obstacle courses, outdoor gyms, table tennis, basketball, and more. We believe in balancing academics with physical activity because a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. You’ve seen the event’s mix of school and higher education leaders, corporates, and government representatives. How do you see this platform benefiting the education community? A big thank you for creating this kind of platform. It may seem small, but it sparks ideas and conversations that can lead to larger changes. Meeting like-minded people, sharing perspectives—it gives us immense joy and learning. So truly, salute to you and your team. ArdorComm Media just completed 4 years as a media startup. Any message or good wishes you’d like to share? My heartfelt blessings and good wishes. May you grow manifold in the coming years and continue strengthening this incredible journey. It’s been a pleasure to be part of this event. Looking forward to many more.

Haryana Sets Ambitious Target for Full Adoption of New Education Policy by 2025

Haryana’s Higher Education Minister, Moolchand Sharma, announced the state’s ambitious plan to fully adopt the National Education Policy 2020 by 2025, accelerating the timeline from the initially projected 2030 deadline. This bold initiative was spotlighted during the State Level Implementation Committee meeting on the policy, where Minister Sharma underscored its transformative objectives aimed at positioning India as a global educational powerhouse. Acknowledging the instrumental role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in shaping the policy, Sharma commended Chief Minister Manohar Lal’s accelerated agenda. The commitment to achieving the vision by 2025 reflects the state’s dedication to shaping India’s educational landscape for the 21st century. Minister Sharma highlighted the forward-looking approach of the policy, integrating cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, 3-D printing, data analysis, and biotechnology into higher education. The emphasis is on cultivating adept professionals and enhancing youth employability to meet the evolving demands of the job market. Expressing optimism about the progress, Sharma stated, “We aspire to exceed a 50 percent gross enrollment ratio of girls in higher education by 2030.” Haryana has already achieved a commendable 32 percent enrollment ratio among girls, positioning itself strongly to reach the 50 percent milestone well before the 2030 target. Envisioning a transformative future, Minister Sharma sees the effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 as a mechanism propelling India to become a ‘Vishwa Guru’ once again, joining the league of leading global educational frontrunners.
