Telangana Govt. Schools Add French Language for Global Learning

Telangana government schools, managed by the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) and Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TTWREIS), have introduced the French language as part of their curriculum. This initiative has been made possible through collaboration with the French Institute in India.

Initially, French language instruction will be piloted in approximately 20 TSWREIS and TTWREIS-affiliated schools, and its expansion to other schools will depend on student interest. The curriculum will encompass students from Class 5 to Class 12. Under this partnership, the French Institute (IFI) will provide training to TSWREIS and TTWREIS teachers in communicative French. Additionally, students will gain access to IFI’s cultural and academic resources, including workshops and seminars that will inform them about opportunities for university studies in France and scholarships.

In an official statement, the Telangana government expressed its commitment to providing diverse global learning opportunities. Dr. E Naveen Nicolas, Secretary of TSWREIS and TTWREIS, emphasized that learning French is a significant milestone for students in these institutions, fostering cultural and language exchanges while opening new avenues for them.

The government statement highlighted the value of global language proficiency in enhancing career prospects, education, travel opportunities, and exposure to various cultures worldwide. Offering this knowledge at the secondary education level has the potential to transform how students shape their futures.
