Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has announced the completion of a $65 billion Series H funding round, pushing its post-money valuation to $965 billion. The company said the fresh capital will be used to expand computing infrastructure, meet rising demand for its AI assistant Claude, and accelerate product development.

With the latest valuation, Anthropic has surpassed rival OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion following its funding round in March.

The company highlighted strong business momentum, noting that enterprise adoption of its AI solutions has continued to increase globally. Anthropic also revealed that its annualized revenue run rate exceeded $47 billion earlier this month, reflecting growing demand for its services.

This marks a significant jump from February, when Anthropic secured $30 billion in funding and was valued at $380 billion.

The latest investment round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. The funding package includes $15 billion in previously committed investments from major cloud providers, including a $5 billion contribution from Amazon.

Amazon has been one of Anthropic’s biggest backers. In April, the tech giant announced plans to invest up to $25 billion in the AI company. As part of the partnership, Anthropic has committed to spending more than $100 billion over the next decade on Amazon’s cloud infrastructure. The new commitment comes on top of the $8 billion Amazon had already invested in the startup.

The funding underscores the intense competition among leading AI firms as they race to develop advanced artificial intelligence models and secure the computing resources needed to support rapid growth.
