IIM Sirmaur has introduced two new Executive MBA programs: one in Executive MBA and the other in Executive MBA in Digital Transformation and Analytics. These two-year hybrid EMBA programs aim to provide executives with a strategic perspective on business, enhance their decision-making and managerial skills, and develop versatile cross-functional competencies. Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA, along with a minimum of three years of full-time work experience. Director Prafulla Y Agnihotri stated that these programs offer professionals the chance to develop exceptional skills and apply modern business analytics practices to achieve sustainable growth. Importantly, these executive courses allow working professionals to enhance their qualifications while continuing with their current jobs. The courses will encompass various teaching methods, including discussions, case studies, projects, term papers, role-plays, seminars, assignments, management simulations, and more. The Executive MBA program will help participants build expertise in areas such as operations, marketing, finance, strategy, and human resources. On the other hand, the Executive MBA in Digital Transformation and Analytics will equip learners with the skills to utilize data and emerging technologies for sustainable organizational growth. These programs will be delivered through an Interactive Learning (IL) platform and will involve two in-campus module visits, providing participants with hands-on experience and opportunities to interact with faculty and industry experts. The Executive MBA program is tailored for professionals with 5-10 years of experience, including mid-to-senior-level managers, entrepreneurs, business owners, and C-Suite aspirants. MIB Approves BARC’s Raw Audience Data Sharing with Broadcasters

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has granted permission to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to share unprocessed audience measurement data with television broadcasters. BARC had formally requested MIB’s approval to provide this raw data to broadcasters. Currently, BARC shares this information with media agencies and advertisers. In a letter to BARC, MIB stated, “BARC can share raw data up to the previous week, i.e., the data pertaining to viewership for the week preceding the one being reported, with broadcasters. This sharing should be done transparently and fairly, while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of BARC’s audience panels are maintained.” MIB also acknowledged that BARC has increased the number of panel homes by approximately 85%, from 30,000 to 55,000. Experts anticipate that providing raw data will offer television networks more comprehensive insights into viewer behaviour. According to the ‘Policy Guidelines for Television Rating Agencies in India,’ data generated by rating agencies should be accessible to all interested parties in a transparent and equitable manner. The ministry emphasized that the raw data has been adequately safeguarded and anonymized and does not contain any personally identifiable information about panel members, thus preserving the secrecy, privacy, and integrity of the panel homes.

DMC Staff to Receive Salary Boost in Line with 7th Pay Commission Recommendations

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) staff is finally set to receive a salary boost in line with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission after a seven-year wait. This decision will impact both current and former NDMC employees, specifically those who retired before December 31, 2015. The announcement was made by Kuljit Chahal, an NDMC member, who stated that all departments within the NDMC would implement the salary structure outlined in the 7th Pay Commission. This proposal was presented during a council meeting held on August 23, 2023. In addition to this significant change, there was a suggestion to extend the Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) pay scales to other NDMC sections, such as accounts, audit, and law departments, covering the period from April 1, 1998, to December 31, 2015. Chahal stressed that this move aims to prevent legal disputes and ensure satisfaction among affected personnel. Furthermore, adopting the 7th CPC is expected to streamline long-pending promotion processes, with no deductions from employee salaries for any recoveries. Chahal also highlighted ongoing efforts by the NDMC, including addressing matters like regularizing 4,500 regular must-roll (RMR) employees and providing job opportunities for compassionate employees.

It’s truly amazing. In fact, I am so glad that we got an opportunity to come here. It’s something that I think the idea has come, and I’m so glad that the new education policy, which is focusing so much on skills, is being actually talked about at length in this seminar and gathering, both at the university level and at the school level. As far as we are concerned at Dronacharya, we are basically a company that is into training and services, and our view is that we must inculcate the idea of aviation and drone technology at the school level, starting from class six. So I am here to propagate this idea. You must be aware that the Prime Minister has a mission and vision that India must be the global hub of drones by 2030. I must say that this is a wonderful effort by you to bring so many people who are holding leadership positions in their respective schools and other organizations on one common platform to share their experiences. It’s only after sharing such experiences that we can find the way to implement the National Education Policy 2020. In today’s e-learning and digital era, there are a lot of changes happening in the publication sector. In what ways is NCERT working to make reading habits more interesting and engaging for kids? This is inevitable because the two worlds are now merging with each other—the traditional way of learning from textbooks and the new way of learning from digital platforms. NCERT is actively engaged in the work of bringing the two together. Textbooks developed by NCERT are available online, and the digital versions are enriched with additional information as learning aids. You can find a scan code in every textbook that provides access to additional material on the NROER platform. The two worlds are joining together seamlessly. When it comes to selecting educational publications, schools often have choices. What criteria should schools keep in mind when selecting publications? It’s essential to see whether the textbook you’ve chosen fulfils the expectations laid down in the learning outcomes of the curriculum. If the textbook meets those standards, you are free to choose it. NCERT makes every endeavour to develop curricular material that meets the expectations of the curriculum in terms of learning outcomes. If another publication meets these demands, you can choose it without any problem. Parents often consider the thickness or weight of a book when selecting textbooks for their children. How has NCERT addressed this concern? The thickness of a book depends on the number of case studies or examples needed to understand a particular concept thoroughly. India is a vast country, and textbooks need to reach every child. Therefore, case studies must come from areas where children reside, so they can connect with the textbook. The focus should not be on the number of pages but on whether the core concepts are well explained. The intention is not to overwhelm students with a proliferation of concepts but to focus on core concepts to ensure their learning progression. We are celebrating the third year of the National Education Policy’s announcement under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. How are you looking forward to this event? Many such events are required because the message of the National Education Policy needs to reach the last person in the country and beyond, considering India’s large diaspora. The policy has been designed to address the needs and aspirations of people living in India and abroad. NCERT has been relentlessly pioneering this effort. The National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage has already been released, along with the required curricular materials. Foundational stage education has been institutionally recognized and empowered with the necessary curricular material for teachers and young learners. The theme of our event is India Vision 2030. What should be the vision for the school education sector going forward? I feel that the vision should be to skill every individual. So, as of now we are doing teaching learning and now we have started to move on that pathway of focusing on every individual but yet a long way to go. So, I would state that skills as per the individual should be encouraged. The critical moment for the mission lies in the final 15 to 20 minutes, during which the Vikram lander, carrying the rover Pragyan, will gently touch down.
