VTU Revolutionizes Engineering Education with Liquid Instruments’ Reconfigurable Technology

ArdorComm news

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), one of India’s largest and most prestigious technological universities, is set to transform engineering education in Karnataka by integrating reconfigurable instrumentation from Liquid Instruments. This move will impact more than 150 affiliated colleges, equipping thousands of engineering students with hands-on experience in modern technology, starting this fall. Liquid Instruments’ innovative Moku platform, originally developed using technology from NASA’s space-based gravitational wave detection projects, offers a suite of 14 test and measurement instruments in one compact device. Powered by a field-programmable gate array (FPGA), the platform delivers everything from basic tools like an oscilloscope to advanced instruments like a lock-in amplifier. This all-in-one solution allows students to perform real-time experiments in diverse fields, such as digital signal processing and control systems. Dr. R. Sundaraguru, head of the electronics and communication engineering department at Sir M. Visveshwaraiah College of Engineering in Bengaluru, hailed the Moku platform for its flexibility and usefulness. “It is excellent in all functions,” he said. “It will be easy to operate and very much useful to students.” Traditionally, such advanced tools have only been available in high-end research labs due to cost and space constraints, leaving undergraduate students reliant on simulations. Liquid Instruments’ Moku platform changes that by providing affordable, real-time experimentation capabilities. With API support and the ability to configure multi-instrument test setups, the platform bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, making it an invaluable addition to the curriculum. Daniel Shaddock, co-founder and CEO of Liquid Instruments, is excited about the partnership. “We’re thrilled to equip Indian students with state-of-the-art tools to accelerate their education. This approach allows students to explore how signals evolve and interact with the physical world, giving them practical skills essential to today’s workforce,” he said, highlighting the importance of hands-on experience in preparing students for careers in India’s rapidly expanding tech industry. To ensure the successful rollout of this new technology, Liquid Instruments, along with regional partners Tessolve and Spruha Solutions, will offer training sessions for faculty members and help establish learning labs at each institution. This initiative ensures that professors are well-equipped to guide students, helping them gain the skills needed for internships and future employment opportunities in the modern workforce. By integrating such advanced technology into the curriculum, VTU is not only enhancing the academic experience but also setting the stage for a new generation of engineers who will shape the future of India’s booming tech landscape.

Healthcare M&A Revenue Reaches $13.3 Billion in Q3 2024 Amid Surge in Hospital Transactions

ArdorComm news

Healthcare mergers and acquisitions (M&A) surged in Q3 2024, with total transacted revenue reaching $13.3 billion, the highest third-quarter total in eight years, according to Kaufman Hall’s M&A Quarterly Activity Report. A significant portion of this activity was driven by the Steward Health Care bankruptcy, which contributed to 11 of the 27 announced transactions. This quarter marked the busiest period for hospital M&A in 2024, matching pre-pandemic activity levels. Steward Health Care’s bankruptcy reshaped the market, with Health Care Systems of America assuming operations at eight Steward hospitals in Florida, Louisiana, and Texas. This transaction was one of four “mega mergers,” where the seller’s annual revenue exceeded $1 billion. Other notable mega mergers included Orlando Health’s acquisition of Brookwood Baptist Health from Tenet Healthcare, Prime Healthcare’s purchase of eight Ascension hospitals in Illinois, and the combination of Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic Health System. While mega mergers contributed to the quarter’s high transaction volume, the average seller size decreased to $492 million, reflecting a broader trend of smaller-scale acquisitions. Seven of the 27 transactions involved for-profit acquirers, while not-for-profit systems, academic institutions, and religious organizations comprised the remainder. The Steward transactions, spanning multiple states, highlight the difficulties financially distressed hospitals face in finding buyers. Established health systems like CHRISTUS Health and Orlando Health stepped in to acquire key assets, while some Steward facilities struggled to attract interest, leading to closures in Massachusetts. Overall, Q3 2024 saw a mix of portfolio realignments, expansions into new markets, and the absorption of struggling facilities, reflecting both opportunity and ongoing financial challenges in the healthcare sector. Nagarjuna to File Rs 100 Crore Defamation Suit Against Konda Surekha Over Divorce Remarks

News on MEAa

Telugu superstar Nagarjuna has announced his intention to file a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against Telangana Congress leader Konda Surekha. This follows her controversial remarks linking the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya to a political figure, which sparked outrage across the Telugu film industry. Konda Surekha’s comments, which implicated Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) as the cause of the couple’s 2021 separation, quickly drew sharp criticism. While she has since withdrawn her remarks and issued an apology to Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya’s father, rejected the apology, stating that his family had not received any acknowledgment or apology. Nagarjuna, who had already filed a criminal defamation lawsuit earlier, confirmed to Times Now that he is preparing another Rs 100-crore defamation suit. He expressed his frustration, saying, “The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family.” He added, “What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and to my family!” The actor also emphasized that the entertainment industry should no longer be a “soft target” for political gains, stating, “You can’t use our names for political gains. We in the entertainment industry won’t be soft targets anymore.” The controversy erupted when Surekha, during a political dispute, took the names of Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, linking their personal lives to political figures. The remarks triggered strong reactions from the Telugu film industry, with prominent figures showing solidarity with Nagarjuna and his family. As the row intensified, the Telangana Congress unit intervened, asking the film industry to move on from the controversy after Surekha retracted her statements. However, Nagarjuna’s defamation suit indicates that the matter is far from over. Despite Surekha’s apology, Nagarjuna remains resolute, stating that such actions should not be taken lightly, particularly when they involve personal and family matters. The lawsuit aims to send a clear message that such defamation will not be tolerated within the entertainment industry. Source: Deccan Herald

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Mankind Pharma’s position in the women’s health and fertility drug market, giving it access to complex R&D platforms and high-entry barrier products in critical care. The definitive agreement reached between the two companies positions Mankind Pharma to further expand its presence in the healthcare sector, offering a wide range of pharmaceutical formulations and healthcare products. Mankind Pharma is engaged in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of pharmaceutical products in both acute and chronic therapeutic areas, including consumer healthcare products. Meanwhile, BSV specializes in biotech, biological formulations, and emergency medicines, with a focus on women’s health and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).
