IIT JAM 2024 Application Modification Window Opens on November 20, Exam Details Revealed

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) is set to open the application modification window for IIT JAM 2024 from November 20, 2023. 14 BHU Scholars Awarded Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship

Fourteen research scholars from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) have earned the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the latest cycle. UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar announced that more than 20 million students from across the nation have registered on the University Grants Commission’s Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) platform. He made this announcement during the western zone vice chancellor’s conference held at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda, Gujarat, on October 26. Chairman Kumar emphasized that in recent years, the UGC has introduced various reforms. Although over 20 million students have already registered on the ABC platform, he stressed the importance of ensuring that every student register and that their academic credentials and credit certificates are uploaded to the ABC platform. During the conference, the UGC Chairman also discussed the progress made in implementing the reforms initiated by the UGC. The Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) is one of the provisions outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). ABC offers undergraduate and postgraduate students the flexibility to exit and re-enter their courses within a specified time frame. This generous contribution will establish 40 scholarships tailored for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students majoring in chemistry at the Institute of Science. These scholarships are set up in honour of the late Kalipatnapu Kondiah, who was a distinguished alumnus and former faculty member at BHU. Kondiah’s academic journey began with a BSc and MSc at BHU, and he later served as a faculty member within the Chemistry Department from 1922 to 1941, eventually assuming the role of the department’s head. His remarkable journey took a turn when he left BHU in 1941 to join the freedom movement, enduring a five-year imprisonment. Following his release, Kondiah’s dedication to his country led him to establish a chemical factory in Andhra Pradesh, contributing significantly to India’s self-reliance. The Kalipatnapu Foundation, initiated by his family, including his son Dr. Indusekhar Rao Kalipatnapu, his late daughter Smt Indira Devi, and his grandson Chaitanya Kalipatnapu, has facilitated this substantial donation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed by BHU Registrar Professor Arun Singh and Dr. Indushekhar Rao in the presence of Vice Chancellor Professor Sudhir Jain and other members of the Kalipatnapu family, including Indushekhar Rao’s wife, Chaitanya Kalipatnapu, and his niece. AICTE Extends Admission Deadlines for 2023-24 Academic Session

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced a modified academic schedule for the 2023-24 academic session. As per the newly announced calendar for technical and professional education, the deadline for first-year student admissions into vacant seats at technical institutions has been extended to October 30. Additionally, the last date for lateral entry admissions into second-year courses for newly enrolled students is also October 30. Furthermore, the cutoff date for universities or boards to grant affiliation to technical institutes is also October 30. Nevertheless, institutions offering online and open-distance learning (ODL) programs will adhere to the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for approval and course admissions in the first and second sessions. The updated academic calendar is available on the official AICTE website, aicte-india.org. The AICTE made these adjustments in response to a Supreme Court order dated October 13, 2023. Consequently, the deadline for admissions into all AICTE-approved institutions and affiliation with universities has been extended to October 30, 2023. Previously, the deadline for admitting first-year students to institutions was set for September 15, and the affiliation grant deadline was July 31. IIT JAM 2024 Registration Deadline Extended to October 20

The registration deadline for the IIT JAM 2024 (Joint Admission test for Masters) has been extended to October 20, 2023, by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M). Previously, candidates had the opportunity to apply from September 5 to October 13, but now they have until October 20 to complete their registrations. To apply, interested individuals can visit the official website at jam.iitm.ac.in. The IIT JAM 2024 examination is scheduled to take place on February 11, 2024. After the exam, response sheets and answer keys will be accessible through the JOAPS login, with the results being announced on March 22, 2024. Scorecards will then be available from April 2, 2024. Subsequently, the admission application process will commence on April 10, 2024. In terms of eligibility, there is no age restriction, and even foreign nationals with Indian degrees are eligible to apply, subject to the policies of the admitting institute.
