Ashik J. Bonofer is an Assistant Professor with a diverse academic background and a rich professional history. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Madras Christian College, Tambaram, Chennai, earned after completing his M. Phil in International Relations at the University of Madras and M.A. in Politics and International Relations from Pondicherry University. Dr. Bonofer’s extensive teaching and research experience spans over a decade, focusing on International Relations, Foreign Policy, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, Human Rights, and Refugees and Mixed Migration. Before joining Madras Christian College, he served in various capacities, including Teaching Research Fellow at the University of Madras, Researcher at the Center for Asia Studies (Chennai Chapter – Observer Research Foundation), and with the Tribal Education and Development Society (TRENDS). Dr. Bonofer has made significant contributions to the field, with a recent publication on Haksar and India’s Sri Lanka Policy, and edited works on topics such as Recent Developments in Myanmar, Refugee Situation in India, Rise of China, and Re-Evaluating US Foreign Policy towards Asia. His research on statelessness among refugees, particularly the Plantation Tamils in India, is featured in the “Handbook on Refugees” published by Routledge.
