UPSC Unveils New Online Application Portal: Aadhaar-Based Universal Registration Now Mandatory

Ardorcomm news

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a newly upgraded Online Application Portal aimed at streamlining the registration and application process for all its competitive examinations. The revamped system, now active at upsconline.nic.in, replaces the older One-Time Registration (OTR) framework, which has been officially discontinued. According to an official announcement, applicants are strongly encouraged to use their Aadhaar card as the primary identity document while registering. This Aadhaar-linked verification ensures a smooth, hassle-free, and permanent registration process across all UPSC exams, eliminating the need for repeated authentication. New Four-Part Registration Framework The redesigned application portal introduces a structured four-module system: Account Creation Universal Registration Common Application Form Examination Section The first three sections—Account Creation, Universal Registration, and the Common Application Form—are designed to be completed in advance as they contain information common to all exams. The Examination Section is the only part that requires input during the active application window of a specific exam notification. This pre-registration model is intended to reduce website congestion close to deadlines and allows candidates to avoid last-minute errors by submitting core information early. Mandatory Fresh Registration A significant change under the new system is that all candidates, including those who registered previously, must register afresh on the new portal. Data from the old OTR system will not be migrated, and applicants are required to upload all supporting documents again under the new framework. Action Steps for Aspirants Candidates aiming to appear in any upcoming UPSC exams should: Visit the official portal: https://upsconline.nic.in Complete the first three modules well in advance of any exam notification Use their Aadhaar card for faster and permanent registration Carefully follow instructions during the final submission process Monitor the website regularly for the latest updates on exam notifications With this new Aadhaar-enabled system, UPSC is pushing for a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly application experience for all aspirants.
