UGC launches a portal to directly hire experts from the industry as professors

The UGC website, UTSAH (Undertaking Transformative Strategies and Actions in Higher Education), and POP (Professor of Practise Portal) portals were all unveiled on Tuesday by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar. According to the UGC chief, the updated website (pop.ugc.ac.in) would give students, teachers, and other stakeholders in the higher education ecosystem a more user-friendly interface.

“The UGC website will also serve as a one-stop shop for all higher education-related information. It will provide all the information on scholarships, fellowships, grants, and other opportunities available to students, faculty, and researchers. The UGC will also add news updates, circulars, and notifications from UGC,” he said.

Prof. Kumar stated that the introduction of the portals is an important milestone towards the digital revolution of higher education in India while speaking at the online event.

UTSAH and POP portals’ recently launched websites can be viewed at http://www.ugc.ac.in, https://utsah.ugc.ac.in, and https://pop.ugc.ac.in, respectively.

The UGC’s initiatives for qualitative changes in higher education will be extensively covered on the UTSAH portal, which will offer a complete platform.

Additionally, it offers a platform for higher education institutions to highlight their successes, exchange best practises, and collaborate on research projects. Institutions can use it to access different UGC programmes, keep tabs on their development, and submit reports online.

The POP website will aid in closing the knowledge gap between the academy and industry.
