Omicron threat: Andaman & Nicobar Islands also reported the first two cases of Omicron.

The highly transmissible variant ‘Omicron’ has been rapidly increasing and increased the threat in the country. Omicron cases have now also been detected in UT’s Andaman and Nicobar islands. Variant has seen drastic increase and now spread in 23 states so far including Andaman Nicobar, It has detected its first two cases of Omicron, along with Maharashtra and Delhi topping the charts. Maharashtra and Delhi have seen astronomical rise in Covid tally and new variant omicron. With that the overall tally in the country has now reached 1270 cases in the country. Maharashtra with a huge surge in omicron cases stands at 450, followed by Maharashtra, Delhi has also seen huge spike had reported 320 cases, Along with that 109 cases have been detected in Kerala, Distribution of cases across states which so far have detected two digit cases is as follows: 97 cases in Gujarat, 69 in Rajasthan, 62 in Telangana, 46 in Tamil Nadu, 34 in Karnataka, 16 in Andhra Pradesh, 14 in Haryana, 14 in Odisha, 11 in West Bengal. The states who have recorded comparatively lower cases are as follows: 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 4 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir and Andaman and Nicobar and one each in Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Manipur, Punjab and Goa. However, a maximum number of cases have been seen asymptomatic but are under observation to detect any severe symptoms. 125 in Maharashtra have now been discharged, 57 patients discharged in Delhi, 47 in Rajasthan have recovered, and 42 in Gujarat. The daily cases of Covid in India rose by 27%as the country has seen and surge and reported 16,764 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Health experts on Thursday stated that even though the variant has changed now but the treatment and preventive measure towards it will not change and Informed everyone that it is collective responsibility to have strict adherence towards Covid-Appropriate Behaviour and  follow all  the restrictive measures issued by the Union and State government.

Vijay Deverakonda has also given powerful performances in a string of movies, one of them has been highly extolled by his fans ‘ Arjun Reddy’ which was later adapted in Hindi as ‘Kabir Singh’. Deverakonda had also praised the cast and crew for doing a ‘splendid job’ on the film. “Everyone’s doing their job and everyone’s working hard because they want their career to be successful. They want to do their best. The cinema industry is a very competitive industry where only success ensures survival. If you have to survive, you need to be able to deliver the performance, otherwise nobody can help you after a point,” he said in a statement. Apart from Hindi, the film will also release in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, Telugu.

JNU declares night curfew from 10pm to 5am

  After the ‘Yellow Alert’ declared by Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal in the capital city, Jawaharlal Nehru University on Wednesday issued a pronouncement of a night curfew on the campus from 10 pm to 5 am due to rising covid cases. On account of aggressive rise in the Covid19 tally and tremendously transmissible variant of the virus, Delhi government announced ‘Yellow Alert’ in order to curb the rising number of the cases. Soon after this JNU imposes night curfew. The order will be effective immediately, the university said. In its order, JNU said all offline academic activities will remain suspended and Dr B R Ambedkar Central Library will remain closed till further orders. JNU has also released certain guidelines to ensure safety. Persons who are in emergency services, medical emergencies and supply of goods are only allowed on production of valid I-Cards. Persons who are either going or coming from the airport, railway stations or ISBTs and coming from somewhere else are allowed to travel with the availability of a ticket. It has stated that authorised shops in shopping complexes, Tapti, Paschimabad, Poorvanchal complexes etc. are allowed to open between 10 am to 8 pm on an odd-even basis. Only outdoor yoga activity is allowed as per the order. According to the order, All authorised canteens are allowed to open with only 50 per cent capacity from 8 am to 10 pm only. The order stated that, “The security branch of the university shall ensure to check the movement of vehicles and persons on the campus”. It has also added that, the security forces have to ensure that everyone has strict adherence to guidelines who is on the campus premises. The residents of the campus are not allowed to go outside of the campus during the curfew hours and campus gates will remain closed for all during the curfew, except for any sort of emergency movement.

Union Government extends AFSPA in Nagaland for another six months; terming the state’s condition “disturbed and dangerous”

The Union government on Thursday extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) and declared Nagaland as “disturbed area” for six more months with immediate effect from 30th December, 2021. The deliberate move was taken days after the union government had constituted a high-level committee to scrutinise the probability of the revocation of the highly controversial AFSPA law from the entire Nagaland. “The Central government is of the opinion that the area comprising the whole of the State of Nagaland is in such a disturbed and dangerous condition that the use of armed forces in aid of the civil power is necessary”, notified by the Ministry. Albeit, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 4 of the Act, “The Central government hereby declares that the whole of the State of Nagaland to be ‘disturbed area’ for a period of six months with effect from 30th December, 2021, for the purpose of the said Act.” The High level committee has been constituted presumably in order to alleviate the exacerbating situation in Nagaland after an ambush by the AFSPA, security forces went  outrageously wrong in Nagaland on December 4 which resulted in the death of 14 Civilians in Mon which let went everyone berserk and the terrible killings of innocent miners has been denounced by national political parties, and the state government. The AFSPA gives unbridled power to security forces to kill anyone acting in contravention of law, and arrest anyone without any prior warrant and have immunity from prosecution. Protests for the withdrawal of the AFSPA have been going on in several districts of Nagaland after the tragic incident provoked anger and indignation.

India sees 781 Omicron cases, Delhi has seen drastic surge followed by Maharashtra

The exponential rise of the highly transmissible COVID 19 variant Omicron has been seen in India. The total tally has reached 781. Variant has spread across 21 states of the country. As many as 238 Omicron cases including 57 recoveries were reported in Delhi and 167 in Maharashtra including 72 recoveries over the last 24 hours. The exponential spread of the SARS-CoV-2 is slipping slowly to the trouble zone with 9,195 new Covid-19 cases, the country’s active caseload rose to 77,002. Government is persistently expediting the inoculation drive of the country. States across the country continued to impose stricter covid regulations to curb the continuous spread of the Omicron variant. Delhi being the maximum contributor at 238 cases followed by Maharashtra. With this rise in the tally, the situation has worsened in the last 24 hours. In Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared a “yellow alert” on Tuesday. Schools, colleges, cinema halls and gyms will remain closed and restaurants, bars and metro trains have been allowed to operate at 50% capacity, Wedding and funeral congregations will be limited to only 20. Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Manipur have witnessed only single digit cases so far. The alert has been issued by the health ministry to all the states to stay alert during the festive season. Maharashtra has banned the public gathering and celebratory gathering on the occasion of New Year. The risk posed by the Omicron variant is still “very high”, the World Health Organisation said today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked IIT graduates to choose challenge over convenience and urged them to start working for the kind of India they want in the next 25 years, saying that a lot of time has already been wasted. Addressing the 54th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, Modi told the fresh graduates that they have to take over the reins of the country. He said India too had started its new journey after Independence. “By the time 25 years were completed, a lot of work should have been done for standing on our own feet but a lot of time has been wasted,” he said. “The country has lost a lot of time, two generations have gone by and so we should not miss even two moments now,” he said. He told students that they have to take over the reins of the country’s development and start work on it right now. “It is the responsibility of all of you to give direction to the country for the next 25 years, to give momentum to the country,” he said. He said the country is standing on the threshold of ‘immense opportunities’, and urged students to take up the responsibility of making use of them. The prime minister launched blockchain-based digital degrees at the ceremony, also attended by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The students were issued digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-driven technology developed under the National Blockchain Project. These degrees can be verified globally and can’t be forged. Bangalore Breaking News: Karnataka Assembly Passes Anti-Conversion Bill Amidst Opposition

Bangalore: The Karnataka Legislative assembly has passed the anti-conversion bill amidst heavy opposition from the Congress leaders. As per the process, it will now be sent to the council for approval. In the earlier discussions, Law Minister J C Madhuswamy had a tiff with the former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Siddharamaiah, Madhuswamy had alleged that the bill was conceived during the latter’s tenure. The Karnataka Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021 is commonly known as the anti-conversion Bill. It has several provisions such as, maximum punishment of 10 years of imprisonment for forcible conversion of persons from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe communities, minors and women, to another religion. Even as the House was debating the passage of the bill, news broke that a church in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district was vandalised by miscreants early Thursday morning. CISCE Declares The Ratified Syllabus for ICSE And ISC 2022

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has declared the reduced syllabus for ICSE AND ISC exams 2022. Students applying for the CISCE board examinations 2022 can check and download the syllabus from the official website, cisce.org. The syllabus for ISE has been released by the CISCE board for subjects like Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Mathematics, Business Studies, Chemistry etc. According to the new syllabus, the portion and paper pattern for ICSE mathematics has been reduced. The new version will have two parts of the examination. They are as follows: Part 1: Theory of 80 marks Paper 1 will have three sections, in which A will be compulsory and will be of 65 marks Students will have a choice between Section B and C, which will be of 15 marks Part 2: Project work of 20 marks ICSE Class 10 has subjects such as English, History, Civics, Geography, Maths, Physics etc. The new pattern also says that the ICSE Class 10 English paper will be two hours and will have subjective type questions. In English, there will be two papers. The pattern is as follows: Paper 1: English language Paper 2: Literature in English Both of these assessments will be of 80 marks. In the other semifinal, South Korea beat Pakistan 6-5. India now looks to return home with the bronze medal after having beaten Pakistan 3-1 in the group match earlier. India took the lead in the very first minute through vice-captain Harmanpreet Singh before Sumit (45th), Varun Kumar (53rd) and Akashdeep Singh (57th) struck a goal each. Pakistan’s goals were scored by Afraz (10th), Abdul Rana (33rd) and Ahmed Nadeem (57th). It was India’s second win over Pakistan in the tournament after having beaten the same opponents 3-1 in the round-robin stages.
