India and Australia sign a framework for mutual qualification recognition

-By ArdorComm News Network

In order to facilitate the movement of professionals and students between India and Australia, the two nations inked a framework agreement for the mutual recognition of qualifications.

The agreement was signed on Thursday during a meeting in Delhi between Australia’s Jason Clare and India’s Dharmendra Pradhan, minister of education. The agreement is a result of the prime ministers of both nations’ commitment to form a joint task force for mutual recognition of qualifications at the 2nd India-Australia Virtual Summit, which was held on March 21, 2022.

According to Pradhan, Australia and India are working together to raise the importance of the knowledge pillar in their bilateral relations.

According to Clare, the Australian government will provide $1.89 million to conduct an agriculture-related skill development programme in India, a crucial sector for the nation. He continued by saying that Australia is making it a high priority to expedite the issuance of education visas to Indian students.

Both ministers emphasised to the audience that this collaboration is a two-way street allowing students from both nations to immigrate and pursue the courses of their choice.

When asked how many Australian students are interested in attending an Indian university, Clare responded, “The number of Australian students showing interest to study in India is very small and it’s not big enough…

One of the things we spoke about this morning in our meeting is what steps can we take to encourage more Australians to come and study here.”

The Australian government sent five students to Odisha’s Centurion University in January to enrol in a textile course there.
