India’s Women Olympics Contingent Brings Glory and Pride To The Country In Tokyo Olympics 2020

Women athletes of India shine in Olympics 2020 and bag medals for a medal-starved country When it comes to sports, women are often discouraged to pursue them or looked down upon by their male counterparts. India is a country where gender bias is still common and women have to bear the brunt of sexism in all spheres of life.  But the tides of change are sweeping the atmosphere. Not only are Indian women good at sports, but they are bringing glory and pride to the country by comfortably and respectfully outperforming their male compatriots at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.  India’s women contingent for the Olympics have succeeded in putting their best foot forward and have displayed excellent sportsmanship in the biggest sports meet in the world.  From Manipuri weightlifter Mirabai Chanu’s silver, to Assamese boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s bronze, which she is confident of turning into a gold, India’s last four Olympic medals — including PV Sindhu’s silver and wrestler Sakshi Malik’s bronze at Rio 2016 have all come from women. After losing her badminton semifinal to Tai Tzu-Ying on Saturday, Sindhu has won a bronze medal in Tokyo against He Bing Jiao of China.  The special highlight of this year’s women contingent is that the team is diversified than ever. It includes mothers, teenagers, married and unmarried women and LGBTQ+ members from bustling cities to quiet hinterlands and nomadic towns.  Women who made their mark this year were not only the ones who bagged medals for the country but even those who portrayed splendid skills and courage at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. One such woman is C.A. Bhavani Devi who is the first Indian woman fencer to qualify for the Olympics. Her highest world ranking is 36.  Displaying outstanding archery was Indian archer Deepika Kumari at the Tokyo Olympics. She won the pre-quarter round and went ahead to compete against South Korea. Even though she lost the round, she still remains the world’s highest-ranked female archer.  Next in the line of achievers comes Kamalpreet Kaur from Punjab. She is the first Indian woman to breach the 65m barrier in discus throw. She gave her best in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and made India proud by finishing sixth.  Mary Kom, India’s pride in boxing, qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, she was disqualified in the pre-quarterfinals against Ingrit Valencia. This decision was met with many speculations and her defeat is still a matter of controversy.  Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina have qualified for the women’s doubles in lawn tennis for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Apart from mainstream sports, here is a list of women who have qualified for various sports in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. • Seven Indian women have qualified for Shooting • Sushila Devi Likmabam has qualified as India’s only participant in Judo • Pranati Naik is the only second Indian woman to qualify for the Olympics in Gymnastics • Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar have qualified for the women Golf event in Tokyo Olympics 2020 • Bhawna Jat and Priyanka Goswami have qualified for 20 km race walking • Annu Rani qualified for Javelin throw • Dutee Chand has qualified for women’s 100m and 200m sprint • Seema Bisla, Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik and Sonam Malik qualified for Wrestling  • Sutirtha Mukherjee and Manika Batra have qualified for Table Tennis • Maana Patel has qualified for women’s backstroke Ending with India’s women’s hockey team, they have won the quarterfinals against Australia and have entered the semi-finals. They rank seventh in the FIH world ranking and are ranked as the best team in Asia.  By going through the aforementioned list of women competing in various sports we are sure that the women of India will contribute heavily to raise the country’s bar on an international level. The future of India and the future of sports for Indian women are bound to change for the good in the coming years. We are sure that someday, Indian women are going to bring the gold home quite literally.

Indian Women’s Hockey Team Makes History, Reaches 1st Olympic Semi-final with 1-0 Win Over Australia

Indian women’s hockey team had made history on Monday by defeating Australia in 1-0, thus making their place in the semi final for the first time in the Olympics. India’s Gurjit Kaur scored the match’s only goal in the second quarter. Many, including politicians and celebrities, have taken to social media to celebrate the win. It’s being seen as remarkable in a country where cricket often overshadows other sports. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag called it “an absolute wow moment”, adding that he was “filled with pride”. Australia had conceded just one goal in the tournament so far, but the Indian players held on to their nerves and did not allow Australia to dominate. India’s best performance in the Olympics came way back in the 1980 Moscow Games where they finished fourth out of six teams. In that edition of the Games, women’s hockey made its debut in the Olympics and the sport was played in a round-robin format with top two teams qualifying for the final. India showed a great mix of aggression and strategy throughout the game. They looked in command and the Savita Punia-led defense let down Australian attacks skillfully, especially in the last quarter when Emily Chalker’s side desperately looked for an equaliser. Emerging World of Modern Teleconsultation and Telemedicine Post Covid-19

Pune: One of the most important facets of human life is striving to maintain good overall health which can only be achieved through magnificent healthcare. In a utopian society, healthcare benefits may be available to all kinds of people around the world, but in the times we live in, ‘healthcare-for-all’ is still a farfetched dream.  In the emerging world of technological advances at every nook and cranny, we can say that we are evolving from primitive healthcare and are moving towards the world of modern teleconsultation and telemedicine. Technology has enabled us to dream for a future where every person will be able to seize the benefits of healthcare.  Though telemedicine was initially considered to be “futuristic”, in today’s world, it has become a reality. With the help of technology and telecommunication services, people can now reap the benefits of healthcare which involves online consultation from various healthcare professionals who will guide you through the whole process of diagnosis, treatment, prevention and evaluation of your condition and overall health.  With the help of teleconsultation and telemedicine, long-distance healthcare has been made possible due to which people from remote areas, where healthcare is not easily available, can now receive treatment via online consultations. It has helped drastically to reduce the gap between healthcare providers all around the world. Communication and opinions can now be freely relayed through teleconsultation. With online consultations on the rise, the patient can save on the peripheral costs of transportation and can save time. In a world that has often been plagued by many epidemics and pandemics throughout history, the advancements in technology in the field of healthcare have made it possible to curb the severity of different kinds of epidemics all around the world. Various types of technologies like geographical monitoring have helped us in tracking and monitoring the extent of the spread of various kinds of viruses and diseases. Therefore, it has become an important tool in disaster management.  Teleconsultation and exchange of information on the front of healthcare and medicine ensure standardization of healthcare and equity amongst individuals living in a particular region with the rest of the world. Teleconsultation and telemedicine act as an information superhighway for people across the globe.  It is important to note that the Centre for International Rehabilitation says that with the advancements in telecommunication and telemedicine, proper rehabilitation and counseling can be provided to the people in remote areas who are in dire need of help but cannot reach out via traditional means.  It has helped in bridging the gap between the common man who struggles for healthcare and the providers who want to reach out for help. Therefore, with advancements in teleconsultation and telemedicine, we are looking forward to a world whose future is not bleak but rather spectacular in terms of overall healthcare services like consultation, medicine, exchange of knowledge, information and ideas amongst people residing in any part of the world.
