3 Challenges While Choosing a Career Path and How To Solve Them!

Are you stressed about choosing a right career path? Well, you don’t have to worry about it. In today’s ever changing job market and global economy, there are always new things to switch and merge into. If you are not sure on what to follow for the rest of your life, you can invest your time in finding short term goals. After a certain point of time (or experimenting), you can switch to other things you like. You can find your long-term goals while doing other things. One thing that we are pressured into by our families, mentors, schools, universities, teachers and the society is to find a job that pays! Earning money is certainly a very big part of your life, but you shouldn’t let your decisions and thought processes be crowded with it. You career path should be related to things you internally like and it should be rewarding emotionally, mentally and physically. The modern-day youth doesn’t like to stick to one thing! They love to explore and that is what is constantly pushing innovations in the market. However, if you are stressed about taking a decision for you career, here are a few challenges that you might face. 1)     Lack of Right Guidance Well, we are not saying that you won’t find guidance or people to talk to about your interests. In the information and social era, it is very easy to connect with people who share the same interests. But sometimes, too much information or the wrong sources may derail you from your path to the right door. Hence, instead of basing decisions on generic advice, you should let your intuition and inner voice guide you. Interacting with people from the same field may be the best option to go with, but do not let certain demerits or difficulties waiver you to choose a different option. Connecting with the right advisors or stakeholders will help you garner important insights to form a base for your decision. 2)     Parental and Peer Pressure (Yes, it still exists!) Our parents come from a time when they were either hushed to work for tasks they weren’t interested in, or they simply had to work somewhere because there weren’t any other lucrative options at the time. Only a few pursued their real dreams and landed their dream jobs. Often you will hear your peers or parents discuss about how problematic it is to get into certain type of career paths, but don’t let those discussions cloud your judgement. Every person has a different ability, IQ and EQ. One other problem with parental and peer pressure is that it tends to make you a part of the herd mentality. Maybe your parents and peers are very supportive about the decisions you want to make for yourself, but if you have over indulging parents who are trying to push you into certain career paths just because other people have made it big there, you shouldn’t get influenced by it. You should most importantly, try to understand that it is not necessary to match your academic achievements with your career path. If you want to pursue music, sports or art, you should definitely go for it. Everything is possible with good research and determination! Try researching as much as you can from various sources before making a decision. After you are sure, you can try convincing your parents with facts, figures and most importantly, “Why” you want to make the choice for yourself. 3)     Foreign Opportunities and Salary-Based Decisions Many students are captivated by videos, pictures and the lifestyle that people live outside India. That all sounds great, but you should not base your career decisions just because you want to go abroad or someone else in your group is doing it. You have to think from a rational mind about the field you are opting for and the country you want to choose. It is a struggle for many students to settle down abroad, however, opting for the right courses, the right country and the right university will help you get a decent job. You should always research or talk to people you know who are working in foreign countries before coming to a conclusion. The other dilemma that all students go through is choosing between things they actually like and choosing between a career path that will give them economical leverage. However, things you have to consider before taking salary-based decisions are: If you actually like the job Will you fit in well with the environment? Will it give you mental peace and satisfaction? If you are good at it Will you able to stay healthy and fit at the job? All of the above-mentioned factors may seem unimportant now, but as you start progressing and working, a healthy and positive work environment is must for your overall wellbeing. Conclusion Do not let fear, money, pressure or greed guide your decision-making. Choosing a career path is crucial for your life and so is deciding to switch to something else later. Do not let the fear of low bank balance dominate your true calling. You should try to explore new things as much as you like. With the right research, a healthy mind and the zeal to stay relevant, you can figure out the best career paths for yourselves.

EPFO Announces Centralized Process of Money Transfer, No Need to Open New Account After Job Change

Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) Central Board of Trustees (CBT) has approved the development of a centralised IT- enabled system by C-DAC. It is aimed at initiating the integration of all EPF accounts to make it easier for employees to change their jobs without the worry of transferring their EPF accounts to their new workplace. In an official statement, Union Labour Minister of State, Bhupender Yadav, explained that after the centralised system is implemented, the field functionalities will be shifted to a central database in a phased manner, to help carry out operations in a smoother manner. The perks of the process are: It will facilitate the duplication and merger of all PF accounts of the members It will remove the requirement of transfer of account on change of job Despite digitization and new technologies, even today when people leave their jobs, they are required to open a new EPF account and then have the money transferred to the new account. They have to perform this process online, on the Member Sewa portal of the EPFO, using their Universal Account Number (UAN), which should be linked with Aadhaar. If the UAN is not linked with Aadhaar, then the employees will have to submit a new form to their new employer to get the process of money transfer started. To our joy, the new system will remove all the pain of transferring all the money to our new accounts when we shift our jobs. Zee-Sony merger deal in final stages, says Punit Goenka

Punit Goenka, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of media and entertainment company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd Ltd, has said the proposed merger with Sony Pictures Networks India, is “in final stages of stitching up.” Speaking at the APOS India Summit by MPA (Media Partners Asia), Goenka said such consolidation has always benefited the media and entertainment industry. MPA is an independent provider of research, advisory and consulting services in media, telecom, sports and entertainment for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. “I certainly believe that consolidation is going to benefit the industry overall,” said Goenka. “Zee and Sony will form the largest media entertainment player in the country. Our revenues on a standalone basis combined will be close to $2 billion, and the capital growth that Sony is going to infuse in the merge entity will really give us the opportunity to invest in premium content and that includes sports,” Goenka said. Pointing out the reasons for the merger, he added that businesses of the two companies are complementary in nature, with minimum overlap. as an example, Zee that had sold Ten Sports to Sony in 2017, will now see the sports genre return stronger for the merged entity. “The opportunity is great, because the digital landscape has opened up a new opportunity for monetization, which did not exist five years ago. and the sector itself will see a lot more happening going forward. So certainly, sports will become an area of focus for the merged entity,” Goenka said, also addressing the speculation around the new entity bidding for the rights to the upcoming IPL (Indian Premier League). “But the decision for bidding or not bidding, and bidding at what value etc., will be taken by the board of the new merged company, and not by me individually,” he added. Calling government regulation for the broadcast sector “far from light-touch,” Goenka said India will remain both a TV and digital market in the foreseeable future and that Zee, as a company will continue to invest in linear television while trying to grow its digital pie. To be sure, Zee’s founding family has been embroiled in a bitter battle with Invesco, its largest shareholder which has approached a division bench of the Bombay high court to challenge an earlier order that restrained the US fund manager from calling a special shareholders’ meet to remove Goenka and reconstitute the Zee board. Zee has challenged Invesco’s plan to restructure the board in courts and alleged that the US investor is trying to take over India’s largest publicly-traded broadcaster at the behest of another company. Dhaval Gaud, Director Marketing, Operations and Business Development, Parul University, Ahemdabad on the benefit of hybrid model of education

We are moving towards a hybrid model but in months to come I think gradually the online model will fade away and we’ll switch back to our physical education says Dhaval Gaud, Director Marketing, Operations and Business Development, Parul University, Ahemdabad in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, ArdorComm Media Group. What is your take on the concept of new normal in education and how you are implementing that in your University? According to me this new normal concept has brought us lot of concepts, online teaching concept is there, online meeting concept is there and now we are doing physical events like this with limited numbers so actually we are moving towards a hybrid model. But as we are anticipating a third wave in the country we are very cautious but if it goes without any third wave then I feel that gradually the schools will open, the markets will open and eventually people will shed off from appearing online, because online doesn’t have that kind of effect, if I have to explain anything we can just wrap it up in 2 minutes but if I’m online I’ll have to speak 20 minutes for the same. So according to me online or virtual mode has a limitation so we should explore the opportunities with the limitations only. But eventually these things are going to unfold and I’m very sure that we’ll see these kinds of events happening more and more and people would love to come back to the way we used to work earlier. What are the benefits of this online or hybrid model of education? This online model is very much successful in remote areas if you exclude the tier 2 and tier 3 cities. If you want to take education to the remote areas, this is one of the fantastic medium. If you want to take education to the working people like work integrated programs or just like many popular platforms like upgrade are coming up so if you want it for working professionals or for people who cannot move, people who want to upgrade their education but are unable to do it because of their one or other responsibilities, this medium is going to be really helpful for them and obviously it has opened another dimension, another horizon which is going to grow in these coming years but with limitations as I mentioned earlier. How did your university adapt to the online mode of education when Covid 19 just hit the world? Our honorable President Dr. Devanshu Patel of Parul University is a very dynamic leader, I still remember last year when this Covid 19 situation came, he drove himself to my home to discuss the matter. We went with the other stakeholders and he arranged a meeting and he implemented to conduct the online exams using a WSE platform and the amount that was being quoted to us he just spent in five minutes and the decision what he took really helped the university. So as a leader Dr. Devanshu sir has done a great job and because of his vision I think Parul University is doing a commendable or an exemplary work and in years to come I feel as a university stakeholder we are taking right decisions and we want all our students to adhere to the hybrid model. We should not forget that practicals require physical presence so the university first started with online approach but currently the university as per the Government norms are conducting both the modes. We are having physical education also and we are having online mode also, so we are moving towards a hybrid model but in months to come I think gradually the online model will fade away and we’ll switch back to our physical education.

Why Social Media Dominates The Entire Digital Marketing Industry!

Quote: “The power of social media is that it forces necessary change.” Erik Qualman   Introduction If you ask yourself, why are you eating what you are eating, why are you wearing what you are wearing, why are you going to a particular place, the answers to all these questions would be, “I saw it on social media.” Whether we like it or not, social media has seeped into our daily lives and it now influences almost all the decisions we make. Gone are the days when brochures, banners and posters disseminated news. In the digital age, everything happens at the click of a button. All businesses, whether B2B or B2C, have been forced to adapt to digitization and media. To rise through the ranks amongst the cut-throat competition in the industry, you need social media marketing. All age groups, including children and the elderly, are constantly surfing social media for the daily dose of their news. Let’s delve deeper to understand why people love social media and what makes it very essential. Reason 1- It Takes You On a Visual Journey People love social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook because they convey their messages through images or videos. If your post is too text-heavy, there’s a high chance that your audience might entirely skip it. Hence, new-era marketers, digital content creators and influencers leverage images, videos and reels to engage the user. Since it is instant, people enjoy going through it and searching for more. Pro Tip: If you want to be a successful marketer in the modern age, be visual and colourful on social media. Reason 2- The User Can Interact in Real-Time One major reason for social media being so popular among Gen Z is that any of your followers, users or customers can reply or comment on your post immediately. Social media reduces the pain of going through multiple channels to communicate and connect with the concerned stakeholder. By engaging in the comment section, you can directly connect with the concerned person and multiple other users to know their opinion or share your own. Apart from reacting and writing comments, you can directly message the person you are interested to partner or collaborate with. Instant messaging makes action-reaction time 10 times faster. As a result, businesses are turning to social media channels and accounts to connect with new prospects and convert their leads. Reason 3- Freedom of Expression People and businesses are very free and relaxed on social media. Gone are the days of traditional marketing. Social media has given everyone a platform to take the podium and speak their hearts out. In addition, you can express what you really feel without having the inhibitions of anyone holding you back. Your opinion belongs to you and it is very easy to find and connect with like-minded audiences through your social accounts. The recent trends on social media include memes and reels. Don’t be surprised! Even B2B and B2C conglomerates have taken to social media marketing and influencing through funny videos and memes of their own. Humour is a great way to captivate the attention of the audience. On social channels, one can easily talk about their challenges and pain points to meet with multiple solution providers commenting on their posts. This phenomenon has propelled a lot of international collaborations and knowledge exchanges. Thus, social media empowers the audience and businesses to share the true extent and intent of their feelings. Reason 4- Easy Regulations With social media, you are not tethered to anything. You are a free bird! There aren’t a very strict set of defined legal regulations and policing when it comes to social media. As a result, it removes a lot of barriers in the paths of businesses and users to convey their message to their audience. For some of us, posting on social media is a daily chore. How difficult is it? However, users must be wary of cyber frauds, copyright infringement and fake users and accounts. It is better to have cybersecurity experts on board with your business if you are a big hit on social media. Reason 5- Free Services Who doesn’t like free services? The major reason for businesses and the general public to use social media is that it doesn’t cost you any money. If you have to make an account, you can do it for free. If you have to promote your services, you can do it free. However, paid advertising is on the rise and it helps you achieve higher traction on social channels. Conclusion To share a few last words, we live and breathe social media content in this era. To stay ahead of the curve, you need exclusive content and amazing social media accounts to increase your followers. In fact, many recruiters, potential clients and competitors look you up on social media before taking any decision. Therefore, if you are behind on promoting your business, whether macro, small or big on social media, you should start doing it now!
