Empowered poor aligned with good governance eliminates poverty: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that poverty can be eradicated through empowering people and aligning their power with good governance. On Tuesday, the Prime Minister virtually addressed the ‘Grih Pravesham’ of nearly 5.21 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh. “When a hardworking government and the aspirations of the common man join hands, then growth and progress always remain limitless. Poverty is eliminated when poor people get empowered while their strength is aligned with good governance,” PM Modi stated. He also said that around 5.21 lakh Madhya Pradesh families have received ‘pucca houses,’ which will “mainly empower the state’s women” and “open a world of opportunities for the poor.” “This scheme is a step toward the empowerment of the poor and gives them hope for a bright future filled with possibilities. The 5.21 lakh homes also signify empowerment of women in Madhya Pradesh,” PM Modi said. Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that the programme to provide underprivileged people with pucca houses is not solely a government initiative. PM Modi said, “It is a commitment to give hope to the poor.” “It is the first step to give courage to the poor to come out of poverty. When poor people have a roof over their head, they can focus on educating their children,” he said adding that despite the COVID pandemic, the government has ensured that the construction of ‘pucca houses’ continues without any hindrance. “These houses are special because they include amenities like gas connection under Ujjwala Yojna, LED bulb connection under Ujala Yojna, toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and water supply under the Har Ghar Jal Yojna,” PM Modi said, highlighting the key features of the houses given under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin scheme. Traditional celebrations with conch, light, flowers, and rangoli were also held in the new houses erected under the plan in Madhya Pradesh during the ceremony. Source: ANI

PM Modi urges Ayush start-ups to put content online in all UN recognized languages

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged health-care start-ups, particularly those in the Ayush sector, to make their content available online in all UN-recognized languages, rather than simply English. In today’s broadcast of ‘Mann ki Baat,’ the Prime Minister stated that the Ayush manufacturing business is worth over Rs 1.40 lakh crore rupees and expressed confidence that Ayush Start-Ups from India will rule the world with superior quality products. “I have a request for the start-ups of the health sector and especially the Ayush start-ups. Whatever portal you design online; whatever content you create, try to make it in all the languages recognised by the United Nations,” he stated. “There are many such countries in the world where English is neither spoken nor understood much. Promote your information keeping such countries in mind as well. I am sure that soon, Ayush start-ups from India with better quality products will reign all over the world,” he added. The Prime Minister noted that the Ayush business is always growing, stating that the market for Ayurvedic medicines was about Rs 22,000 crore six years ago and has now grown to Rs 1.40 lakh crore. “This means that the possibilities in the sector are always rising,” PM Modi remarked, adding that “Ayush is becoming a subject of attention” in the world of start-ups. UGC writes to state, private universities to adopt CUET from 2022-23 academic year

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged public universities, colleges, and private universities to use the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to enroll candidates to undergraduate programmes from the 2022-23 academic session onwards. Rajnish Jain, the UGC secretary, has written to all university and college vice-chancellors, directors, and principals, urging them to adopt CUET, for which the application window will be available from April 2 to April 30. For the time being, CUET has been mandated for the 45 central universities beginning in the upcoming academic year. Students will not have to take multiple admission tests if all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), regardless of affiliation, adopt the CUET, Jain stated in the letter. It will also provide students from other boards an equal chance, he noted. “Many state universities, deemed to be universities, private universities, and other Higher Education Institutions in the country also use either marks of 12th board or conduct entrance test for admission in UG programmes. To save students from appearing in multiple entrance examinations, conducted in different dates, sometimes coinciding with each other, and to also provide equal opportunity to all students from different boards, UGC invites and encourages all state universities, deemed to be universities, private universities and other HEIs to adopt and use CUET score from 2022-23 onwards for admissions of students in their UG programs,” mentions the UGC letter. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which will conduct the CUET, published the broad instructions for the test on its website nta.ac.in on Sunday. The test is expected to take place in the first week of July. The test will be broken into four components based on the NCERT class 12 syllabus. Applicants in Sections I A and I B will be required to take language exams. Each segment will include 50 questions, with the candidate having to answer 40 of them. Section II will assess a candidate’s knowledge of core courses that they want to study in college. In the Section II paper, which will also be 45 minutes long, a candidate will have to answer 40 out of 50 questions. Section III of the CUET will be a general test for any undergraduate programme or programmes offered by universities that use a General Test for admission rather than accepting students based on their domain subject scores.

ArdorComm- Higher Education and EDTECH Conclave & Awards (#HEET Conclave & Awards)

Technology is a tool to add value and make education more effective. In a scenario where there is a huge transformation in the education sector with the rapid technological advancements, we are gradually transitioning from Education 4.0 to Education 5.0. ArdorComm Media Group, being one of the growing media company in India, is here to explore the possibilities of innovation in education, the future trends and the existing scenario to propel necessary discussions between major education, tech, and government stakeholders. Education 5.0 isn’t about using less or more technology; it’s about making informed, responsible decisions while keeping the overall picture in mind. Privacy, ethics, security, and technological mindfulness are all given specific consideration in Education 5.0. It equips students for lifetime learning and establishes the groundwork for a variety of abilities that extend far beyond digital literacy. Chandan Anand, Founder, CEO & Group Editor of ArdorComm Media, emphasized saying, ‘’The goal of Education 5.0 is to transform the current educational system into one that is centered on action and outcomes. Despite repeated attempts to offer proper training, evaluation, and related assistance, the actual figures of employable graduates each year are alarming. As a result, the gap between corporate organizations’ actual needs and the intellectual human capital developed and supplied continues to widen.” To address this issue and discuss the need of the hour in the Higher education sector, ArdorComm Media, is coming up with the ‘HIGHER EDUCATION and EDTECH CONCLAVE & AWARDS 2022’ (#HEET Conclave & Awards) as a ‘PHYSICAL EVENT’ in Pune, Maharashtra on 6th May 2022. We see that the freshers are regularly trained to tune them to the organizational requirements, which costs a lot of money. Many times, children attend school with no clear purpose in mind, and students attend college with no clear goals in mind. Bringing in significant changes in a short period of time is extremely difficult for institutions and individual educators to do within the time constraints. Every industry and business organization go through a “natural cycle of change,” and the education sector is no exception. We will end up fighting today’s problem with yesterday’s tool unless we innovate and bring in the essential change proactively in every aspect of the process, which is critical for greater sustainability in the current scenario. Hence, it’s the time to propel discussions with the higher education leaders, ed-tech and other stakeholders to know their views on the same and to come up with a roadmap for transitioning to Education 5.0. CUET must for UG admission at all Central Universities, dates soon: UGC Chairman

The National Testing Agency will conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the academic year 2022-23, and test dates would be notified within a week, according to University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagdesh Kumar. The test would be required for admission to undergraduate courses at UGC-funded central universities, but state, private, and deemed-to-be universities will be able to opt out if they desire, he said. “All higher educational institutions, irrespective of whether they are state universities, private universities, or deemed to be universities, all of them can use the CUET scores for admission in UG and PG programmes. However, it may be noted that admission in UG programmes in all central universities funded by the UGC will be solely on CUET scores,” the UGC chairman said. “We have decided to give wide choice to students to pick the subjects…a candidate can take as many as six domain subjects in addition to a compulsory language test and also the general test,” he added. In CUET 2022, there will be 43 domain-specific subjects. According to the UGC chairman, universities can set their own minimum percentages for admission to UG programmes in class 12 board exams, and there would be no centralised CUET counselling process. The entrance test, according to the newly-appointed chairman of the UGC, will provide a common platform for admission to all universities and colleges across the country, as well as equal opportunities to students studying under different boards, particularly those from the North East region and other rural and remote areas. “CUET is expected to reduce the financial burden on parents and students since students do not have to write multiple entrance exams for admission to UG and PG programmes,” he added.

Airtel upgrades parental policy benefits for staff to drive inclusive goals

Bharti Airtel (‘Airtel’) has improved its parental policy perks for employees as part of its effort to create a diverse and inclusive workplace. In addition to 26 weeks of maternity leave, the Indian communications solutions firm is also paying its returning female employees a special childcare payment of Rs 7,000 per month. This childcare allowance will be provided to them until the child reaches the age of 18 months. It will be granted even if the child is adopted. “We did so with the goal of developing a more diverse and inclusive workplace.” “We hope that this would encourage more women to continue working at Airtel as they progress through crucial life phases,” says Amrita Padda, Bharti Airtel’s chief people officer. New mothers can work for up to 24 weeks after maternity leave and return to active work at their own pace. This helps them to spend more time with the new born. But that’s not all. New mothers can also take two additional paid leave days for daycare per quarter. New fathers who are primary caregivers can take up to eight weeks of paternity leave under the enhanced parental policy. Airtel is proud of “making meaningful innovations that make a mark,” according to Padda. We need to stay ahead of the curve and examine our policies in order to further reinforce our workplace and work practices.”
