CM Vijay Rupani pushes to promote faceless technology to curb corruption

The Gujarat government is putting a lot of effort into working on faceless technology. The aim of creating this user passage through faceless technology in administrative works is to curb corruption. On the celebration of five years completion of the Rupani Government, this announcement was made by the chief minister. Rupani mentioned, ‘Gujrat is on the verge of expanding its internet services to the rural areas of the state under the BharatNet Project. Earlier ‘Seva-Setu’ programs were conducted at the taluka level to help citizens get benefits from various government schemes. Now the same program has been shifted online as ‘e-Seva-Setu’ offering services through technology. Rupani highlighted his vision of curbing and decreasing corruption to the maximum possible extent. For this purpose, the state government is all set to move towards the usage of technology for creating a faceless system. The union home secretary A K Bhalla stated that an electronic human resource management system (e-HRMS) will be an effective tool in the future. After releasing the progress report about the system, Bhalla mentioned that the application of Artificial Intelligence tools will be an effective support in the policy makings and it will also help in handling matters in respect of personnel. Bhalla also insisted in his statement, that this system needs to be available and in use in other ministries as well. So that there will be better coordination in the administration system. The e-HRMS was launched by the Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh on December 25, 2017. As per the statement issued, the e-HRMS consist of 25 applications of five modules. Now applying the e-HRMS in ministries for better functioning is the agenda for government. Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Rashmi Chowdhary said, with the help of e-HRMS governmentemployees can access their service-related information digitally. Students Start Classes on Road, Protesting Online Studies in Demand of Reopening Colleges

Student Federation of India (SFI) has arranged a “face to face classroom” on road to protest against the closure of educational institutions. The student body will hold the protest on August 12 across West Bengal. Schools across India have been closed since mid-March 2020 due to the pandemic and classes are being conducted digitally since then. While the country is reopening slowly, schools and educational institutes still remain shut. This year, many examinations have been cancelled including the board examinations of classes 10 and 12. Examinations for most of the colleges and universities are being taken online. SFI has been demanding to reopen the schools and colleges immediately. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also declared that, if the situation permits, classes may start in schools on alternative days. As a protest for the online classes, SFI is holding offline classes on the roads. One such class has already started on the road in front of Jadavpur University where professors have joined to take classes. “The classes there will commence till 14 August and such initiative will be taken across the state on 12 August.” Professor Nandini Mukherjee who joined in the movement with the students and took class, said, “The students who stay in the remote area are suffering. Many of my students are not being able to get the facility of attending online classes due to poor network connections. The government has granted permission to reopen everything instead of educational institutions.” She also added, “There must be a proper plan to reopen the schools, colleges and universities. To function the entire system properly, government needs to open the campus immediately with proper protection.” SFI State General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya, said, “Government is not prioritising education. Central Government, in their New Education Policy, has focused on online mode of education and state Government is backing. The basic structure of the education system is on the verge of abolition. Hinduja Global Solutions To Divest All Healthcare Related Services To Baring PE Asia

After contract settlements and transactions, HGS will divest its healthcare business including client contracts, assets, and employees to Baring PE Asia. Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS), the business process management arm of the Hinduja Group, is divesting its health care services business to funds affiliated with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA). The Hinduja Group has signed definitive agreements with BPEA, one of the largest private alternative investment firms in Asia, for the same. “The transaction based on enterprise value of $1,200 million, subject to closing adjustments, is expected to complete within 90 days, subject to shareholder and other regulatory approvals,” HGS said in a release. After the completion of the transaction, HGS will transfer all client contracts, employees, and assets, including infrastructure related to the healthcare services business. HGS’ healthcare services business supports payer, providers, laboratories, durable medical equipment firms and pharmaceutical companies with solutions that augment healthcare teams to deliver better patient, member, business and financial outcomes. “The services cover the entire lifecycle of a payer organization, including member acquisition, enrollment and billing, benefit set-up, claims adjudication, provider credentialing and data management, payment integrity and financial recovery, grievance and appeals, provider and member engagement, prior authorizations, case management and population health management, and the various functions in the revenue cycle of a provider organization,” the release said. The healthcare services business has over 20,000 employees across India, Philippines, US and Jamaica, and recorded revenue of about $400 million in FY2021. HGS said it will focus on strengthening its consumer engagement solutions (CES), HGS Digital and HRO/ Payroll businesses that support many top global brands across its nine verticals. Services to healthcare clients delivered by the HGS Digital and HRO/ Payroll businesses will continue to be part of HGS’ portfolio. “Our healthcare services business has steadily grown over the years. We reached a stage where we could recommend to promoter to divest stake in this business to unlock value for all HGS stakeholders. We will use the generated funds to strategically invest for the future growth of the organisation. We see a long-term value and benefit to HGS in doing so,” HGS Global CEO Partha DeSarkar said. Mumbai gets 35 electric and automated buses

With an agenda of making public transport environment friendly, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackrey inducted 35 electric buses into Mumbai’s Fleet. This initiative is taken under the central government FAME II project. The project was inducted on 7 August, which is the foundation day for Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST). On this occasion presence of senior officials of state government, BEST, and TATA Motors at BEST Bus depot Mahim was witnessed. These are TATA star buses, with air-conditioning. The 12 meter long bus has a seating capacity of 59 passengers. The buses are manufactured by TATA motors, that these buses are extensively tested and validated across varied terrain.
