ArdorComm Media Group has recently celebrated its 2nd Anniversary, you are spreading across India, tell us about your journey so far and how you’ve emerged as a growing media group? Our journey has been a challenging yet exhilarating rollercoaster ride. Through leaps and bounds, we’ve celebrated numerous successes as well as a few failures. I have enjoyed the journey of success & learned from failures. With 17-18 years of rich experience in the media industry, I then ventured into opening our own media start-up and named this organization ‘ArdorComm Media’. This was during the second wave of COVID, in a situation of uncertainty & challenges, we overcame hurdles and identified it as the opportune moment to commence our own Media Venture. We were connected with the stakeholders in the tech segment in the communities of healthcare, education, human resources, media, entertainment, art & in government sector. We tried to bring all the community stakeholders on a common platform and opened the doors for networking and collaboration. After having a good experience working with renowned media houses in the country and having exposure to regional dailies (vernaculars) & English newspapers, we thought to enter into the Digital space. The motto of our organization is to empower communities with socio-digital transformation. We want to become the Media voice for these 5 communities. As an overview how do you see this journey as a major achievement? Entrepreneurship will develop only when you have experience working in various companies, where you understand the hierarchy, the roles & responsibilities, and the responsibility of chasing targets & delivering them on time. How are you contributing to making your company happy, and your clients & stakeholders happy, that comes with a lot of experience & expertise. When your journey goes into that space & when you are very focused on what you have to become, then, you spend that time enthusiastically & willingly. I was very closely working with the editorial team, advertisement & sales team. So, I know both sides of the table. Also, readership plays a very crucial & important role and everything in today’s scenario is driven by content. If you publish fresh & new content, readers-listeners-viewers get engaged with you & they also motivate you to ask about your next content, blog, or story. Then you feel good about when they like your efforts & work. How do you see ArdorComm Media thriving in India in the upcoming years? As an entrepreneur, my vision for ArdorComm Media involves going deep into the segments, I want to go regional, exploring more cities, and more states. I aspire to invite stakeholders across various domains to our platform to share their experience & knowledge. IIT Madras and SRIHER Collaborate on MD-PhD Dual Degree Program for Advancing Medical Research in India

IIT Madras and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce a MD-PhD Dual Degree program. The collaboration aims to blend medical expertise and research capabilities, with SRIHER granting the MD degree and IIT Madras conferring the PhD degree through its Department of Medical Sciences and Technology. The program, set to commence in the upcoming academic year, emphasizes core clinical, interdisciplinary, and translational research to train proficient research scientists. Prospective postgraduate students at SRIHER, admitted through NEET, can apply for the PhD program at IIT Madras after their second year. The initiative seeks to cultivate ‘Physician-Scientists’ to drive India’s advancement in medicine and health research, aligning with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in these fields. The MD-PhD graduates, recognized for their significant contributions, have historically garnered 37 percent of Nobel Prizes in Physiology, exemplifying their pivotal role in establishing crucial cause-and-effect relationships such as those between smoking and cancer or sugar and diabetes.

UGC Unveils Regulations Allowing Top Global Universities to Establish Campuses in India

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently released regulations allowing foreign universities ranked among the top 500 globally to establish branch campuses in India. This comes shortly after Australia’s Western Sydney University announced plans for an independent campus in Bangalore. The new regulations empower these foreign institutions to determine their admission processes, fee structures, and facilitate the repatriation of funds to their parent campuses. The guidelines stipulate that two or more foreign universities can collaborate to establish campuses in India, provided each institution individually meets the eligibility criteria. Additionally, a foreign university is permitted to set up multiple campuses in India, with a separate application required for each proposed location. The final regulations, released after a 10-month period of public feedback on the draft, include several modifications. Notably, foreign universities must ensure that international faculty members appointed to teach at Indian campuses stay in the country for at least one semester. The processing time for applications by the standing committee has been extended from 45 to 60 days, and recommendations must be presented to the UGC within 60 days. The regulations also specify that foreign universities cannot establish learning centers, study centers, or franchises that act as representative offices for promotional activities in India or any other jurisdiction outside the country without prior approval from the UGC. Moreover, the regulations prohibit the offering of programs online or in open and distance learning modes, except for online lectures, which should not exceed 10% of the program requirements. Foreign institutions are exempt from annual fees to the UGC, only requiring a one-time application fee. They are expected to use their own infrastructure, land, and resources to establish campuses. Additionally, foreign universities may offer full or partial merit-based or need-based scholarships and fee concessions to Indian students on their campuses. While these regulations align with the National Education Policy of 2020, which aims to create a legislative framework for top global universities in India, previous attempts, including those by the UPA government, faced opposition from parties such as the BJP and the Left when they were in the opposition.

Chebbi, Pro Chancellor, Alliance University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness this New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? I think this is a much-called-for event, and many such events must happen in today’s day and age, especially in Bangalore. Calling it the “new normal” in Bangalore may not be entirely accurate, as Bangalore is in the lap of Silicon Valley in the East. Increasingly, technological developments are happening here, with tech and fintech firms and great educational institutions in the K12 and higher education sectors. The adoption of technology and the harmonious marriage of physical and digital is very apparent in Bangalore, making it an example for creative initiatives by schools, universities, and colleges in the educational ecosystem. So, this event is much called for, and I’m eager to listen to the other panellists. Could you highlight some initiatives that you are taking under your leadership at your university? At Alliance University we have begun this marriage between physical and digital much before and of course came the advent of covid 19, the pandemic in a way forced every stakeholder to sort of adopt into this environment more rapidly having said that use of technology is not new to our university. Just to give you an example quoting covid for example, we were recognized globally as one of the most engaging universities in collaboration with a leading online skill-based course provider. We competed with international universities and set this as a new normal. Our ecosystem, from student registration to classes and collaboration, heavily involves technology. What’s your take on skill development for students? In today’s world, skilling and upskilling are constant needs. Skills come in various forms, from domain-specific skills to interpersonal and industry-specific skills. Students learn skills at their own pace, anywhere, and at any time. However, we must create an environment that fosters skill absorption and includes innovative assessments that cannot be manipulated. Skills are evolving rapidly, and students must adapt to this constant change. In forums like this, where education leaders, EdTech players, and government representatives come together, how do these forums benefit the education sector at large? These forums serve as platforms for ideation, bringing together thought leaders from government, industry, and enablers. They also attract students who can benefit from these discussions. These forums allow for engaging, pertinent discussions, highlighting challenges and opportunities. Collaboration and networking are key outcomes of such events. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any wishes or message for us? I wish that more such companies come, I wish for your company to grow many folds because this is an area where collaborators have to play a very important role and these bridges that are created need to be fostered so all the best.

“Knowledge is not just for exchange; knowledge can be for assimilation as well. So how well you assimilate this knowledge is very important,” says Vamsheepriya Amar, Principal, MVJ International School; Chairperson, Bangalore Sahodaya (BSSCA), in an interview with Chandan Anand, CEO & Group Editor, ArdorComm Media Group at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka Under your leadership, what is your organization doing, and how is Bangalore Sahodaya grooming and growing day by day? See, first of all, let me think about the panel we just heard. They were talking about teachers’ training. We have massively utilized this platform to reach out to every school in training the learners. I am saying training the learners because they have that kind of acumen to improvise as well as to implement that back into the classrooms. So that is one of the things that we have taken on. Also, they were talking about the rural areas. Yes, we have reached out to all the remote areas where learning could have been difficult, and to get that 50 hours of CPD program back into the classrooms and the schools would have been difficult. So, reaching out to them and making it possible for them in the classrooms was one of our missions for BSSCA, basically. And also, I recently met here a couple of people, and I got a better insight into how technology can be empowering the classroom and learning environment. I just recently met somebody who was talking about the NCF (National Curriculum Framework) and FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) strategies and how technology has really helped them to take it back into the classrooms and make sure that NCF curriculum goals will be positively taken into consideration. That, I think, is a major learning for me today being here. And of course, ArdorComm is doing very well. Congratulations on your second year of launching this and trying to connect with a number of people in and around. Sometimes it so happens, back in school, we are into that, well, we feel our job is to just take care of our school, but when we come out into such open forums, we do meet people and we can really interact and also learn a lot. And I become a co-learner; that’s a basic thing that I felt is really motivating and inspiring. What is the motivation for teachers in the school campus when it comes to your shoulders as a responsibility? They need to soil their hands, and if I can use, because you’re back in Karnataka, I would like to use a proverb, “The more you soil your hands, you enjoy or reap the fruits, basically.” So, the thing is they should be thinking deeply about how much they can contribute to the learning field, and the day being learners themselves, every day is a learning, and every experience they need to reflect that enhances the metacognition skills. And I’m sure learning will be exponential unless it is within, and that innate motivation, I would say intrinsic motivation, I don’t think extrinsic motivation is possible with some of us. But yes, people like you give us the extrinsic motivation and make us feel that yes, we are doing and we’re in the right place. Let us do some more. So that’s a kind of extrinsic motivation people derive from events like this or connections like this. So, both should be balanced, extrinsic as well as intrinsic. What is the role of skill education in school education? How is it moving forward in your school, and how are you taking care of skill education? Yeah, I think NCF also speaks about this, knowledge skills, as well as competencies. All of it should be together; it should be an amalgamation of cognitive, affective, as well as psychomotor domains. So, knowledge is not just for exchange; knowledge can be for assimilation as well. So how well you assimilate this knowledge is very important. And the skills can be soft skills; all your 21st-century skills from effective communication to collaboration to creativity and critical thinking. Nothing is quantitative; it’s quality that we are depending upon. So that is one thing that we need to be mindful of in school. So, encourage every child; we never know when the child can be a radio jockey with a lot of humour, and that calls for a 21st-century skill, which is effective communication, that’s right. And after which, I did mention about the competencies. Identify these rich skills in children, mould them, nurture them, and help them explore through self-awareness where they can really understand the balance between their strengths, their weaknesses, the areas where they can really improvise. I think they may not be 100%, but the fact that they’re trying to move in the right direction is more than enough. In a forum like this, where we see the corporate is here, the government is here, the academia from school and higher education is here. What is the outcome, and what do you expect from such forums? We look forward to the policies which are really hidden and they never come out sometimes. So, when people speak, they actually get the forums in which they were actively involved back onto the stage and back to the public. So, we are looking forward to hearing from them and understanding whether the policy is just for the sake of policy or there’s going to be an implementation and a carry forward of it. Sintex BAPL’s Investment in Telangana to Create 1000 Jobs and Strengthen Building Materials Industry

Sintex BAPL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Welspun Corp, has inked a formal agreement with the Telangana government to establish a manufacturing facility in the state. This partnership is based on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently signed. Under Telangana’s incentive program, this manufacturing unit will necessitate an investment of Rs 350 crore over the next three years and is poised to generate employment for 1,000 individuals within the state. The primary focus of this facility will be the production of water tanks and PVC pipes within Telangana. Sintex BAPL, which is experiencing significant growth in the water tank segment, also has plans to commence the manufacturing of pipes, including PV pipes and fittings. This strategic move is aimed at solidifying Welspun’s presence in the building materials sector. The groundbreaking ceremony for this manufacturing unit took place in the presence of Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, KT Rama Rao, and BK Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, along with other notable figures. It’s worth noting that Telangana has been actively prioritizing job creation initiatives. Earlier this year, the Central government designated several locations for the establishment of PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks, particularly aimed at bolstering the textile industry. Telangana was identified as one of the seven states for this endeavour, alongside Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. These parks are anticipated to yield significant employment opportunities. The PM MITRA Parks model involves collaborative efforts between the central and state governments to attract substantial investments (up to Rs 70,000 crore), foster innovation, and contribute to making India a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports.

IIT Madras and Ericsson Forge Strategic Partnership for Responsible AI Research

The Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has entered into a strategic partnership with Ericsson to jointly conduct research in the realm of Responsible AI. Ericsson, as a ‘Platinum Consortium Member,’ has committed to this collaboration for a five-year period. As part of this collaboration, Ericsson Research will actively engage in and support all research endeavours undertaken at CeRAI. To commemorate this partnership, a symposium titled ‘Responsible AI for Networks of the Future’ was organized. Distinguished leaders from both IIT Madras and Ericsson Research came together to deliberate on the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field of Responsible AI. During the symposium, a panel discussion revolving around ‘Responsible AI for Networks of the Future’ took place, marking the official launch of this collaboration. Wipro Collaborates with IIT Delhi to Establish Centre of Excellence in Generative AI

 Wipro, a prominent IT company, has unveiled a centre of excellence centred around generative artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi). The newly established centre is situated within the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence at IIT Delhi and is intended to foster applied research in the realm of generative AI. According to an official statement, the primary objective of this Centre of Excellence (CoE) is to foster and enhance research and development capabilities in emerging domains like generative AI, while also facilitating connections between candidates and a pool of talented individuals. Wipro’s Chief Technology Officer, Subha Tatavarti, emphasized the aim of this initiative.
