“We are a forward-looking organization and we think that teachers are our core and by implementing the best available resources, by implementing the best available technology we think that we definitely can make a lot of impact in the Indian education system,” says Anantha Krishnan B., CEO-Operations, Kalorex Group, Ahmedabad, Gujarat in an interview with Chandan Anand, Founding Editor, ArdorComm Media Group at the ‘ArdorComm New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2022’ #ELSAGujarat #ELSAAhmedabad You having such a renowned institution under Kalorex brand you have DPS also and other institutions what is the vision and the mission behind taking this league forward in implementing the school educations across Gujarat? Well thank you for this opportunity in fact Kalorex is a 27-year-old organization in the field of Education founded by Dr Manjula Pooja Shroff who is a visionary, a President of India awardee. Dr Shroff’s vision is very clear that she wants to reach out to every section of the society to give the best of education to whatever best possible way. She’s a very forward-looking lady in terms of she tries to implement anything and everything that comes new into the technology segment new into the academic segment, upskilling, reskilling. So, we are a forward-looking organization and we think that teachers are our core and by implementing the best available resources by implementing the best available technology we think that we definitely can make a lot of impact in the Indian education system so that’s the primary objective of the organization. We are 40 plus institution group right so we run preschools, K-12 schools under the brand name of Delhi Public School and Calorex Public Schools and Calorex International Schools and we also have a online initiative called as eKal which is an anywhere learning platform wherein we integrate the best use of technology along with the contemporary teaching styles and we also provide skill development and other required fields which a professional today in the working environment would require plus we are also into the animation segment right so we have something called as the Yali animation series, it’s live on the MX Player for kids so Yali is a mascot, it has got a few characteristics which we believe that every child and every teacher should imbibe into so that’s what the idea behind Yali. Covid was a tough time for everybody across the country but then we being a visionary in terms of being in the forefront of education we were one among the initial implementers of online learning and online technology so our schools are doing fairly well in that particular segment. And we also are doing a lot of new I should say research across how to imbibe technology in a better sense and into a more inclusive and immersive way in the classrooms. As you have been a part of many events before as well how does this kind of gathering where you have the technology partners, the academicians and even the government, support in overall development of a society of education? See any forward movement that you look across in the society today has to have multiple pillars, so all the pillars you just name, government is one pillar the institutions are the second pillars the technology partners are the third pillars so it’s a combined and a collaborative effort. The Indian government is a visionary government so they’re trying to bring in the new NEP the new stuff in learning, the edtech partners are trying to bring in the best of technologies and we are the institutions we’re trying to adapt these technologies and ultimately, it’s the learner who is going to benefit so that’s the primary idea. So, all segments are looking forward towards the initiative like the one that you have done today as an initiative to bring in all these partners together. It’s a fantastic initiative I think Ahmedabad of late has not been seeing much after covid so I think you are one among the forerunners to bring this event to Ahmedabad I thank you very much on to it and I congratulate you for this beautiful event and looking forward for such beautiful events in the future too. Just to inform that we have recently completed our one year of existence and our first anniversary was being celebrated recently, any message would you like to give for ArdorComm Media Group? Musk defends Twitter’s layoffs, saying the company is losing $4 million daily and there was “no choice”

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, has asserted that a major round of layoffs at the microblogging platform were required due to the millions of dollars the company was losing daily. He clarified that all those losing their jobs were given three months of severance pay, “which is 50% more than legally required,” in an effort to soften the blow. “Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day. Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required,” Musk tweeted. A week after the $44 billion takeover by the billionaire business magnate, Twitter announced employment layoffs. With Musk in charge, a lot has happened, from letting go of executives to suggesting a new content moderation council. In the days following his takeover, rumours surfaced that he intended to fire at least half the Twitter employees in an effort to reduce expenses and save money. Musk first denied the accusations, but on Friday he reversed course and started firing staff members. Hours prior to the start of the first round of mass layoffs, Twitter declared in an internal memo to staff, “In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday.” The cuts appear to be as severe as they were broad, hitting both Twitter’s marketing division and its trust and safety teams, which are responsible for content moderation. There are rumours that the company’s entire human rights team was fired. Following the layoffs, Twitter employees filed a class action lawsuit against the tech giant, claiming that the firm violated federal and California law by performing mass layoffs without giving the requisite 60-day notice.

India seeks greater pharma market access in the UK: official

As part of the proposed free trade agreement with Britain, India is looking at expanding market access for its pharmaceutical items in the UK, an official said on Friday. The official added that a leaked chapter of the agreement on intellectual property (IP), which has been circulated on several portals, has been altered from its original form by the UK. “The best part in the proposed agreement is that both sides have highlighted their red lines and sensitivities. Ever-greening and touching manufacturing of generic medicines is completely non-negotiable,” the official added. UGC issues revised guidelines for “deemed to be universities”

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s broader higher education policies are reflected in the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) today’s announcement of revised regulations for institutions that are deemed to be universities. Multidisciplinary institutions with at least five departments (either UG/ PG/ integrated/ research or a combination of these) or a cluster of institutions with at least five departments that are all located in the same city or town will be eligible to apply for Deemed University status under the revised regulations. The NAAC “A” grade with at least a 3.01 CGPA for three consecutive cycles, NBA accreditation for two-thirds of eligible programmes for three consecutive cycles, ranking in the top 50 of any given NIRF category for the previous three years continuously, or ranking in the top 100 of the overall NIRF ranking for the previous three years continuously, are additional requirements for eligibility. The “De Novo” category has been replaced with the “distinct institution” category, which exempts any institutes that qualify as “distinct” from having to adhere to NAAC requirements. In accordance with the new regulations, UGC, not the Ministry of Education (MoE), will henceforth approve any off-campus center(s). Deemed universities will now be able to create their own off-shore campus center(s), as long as they comply with UGC rules. It has been made clear, nonetheless, that admissions will be based on performance in the government-conducted entrance exam, and the fees will be set transparently while considering non-profit/non-commercial features. For any violations, a system of graded penalties has now been implemented. These include a public warning, a prohibition on expansion, and the shutdown of programmes, departments, or off-campus(es) locations. The status of considered university will be revoked in the event of continued violations.

Govt to establish committees to handle concerns about social media content moderation

The Centre has announced the guidelines under which it would form appellate panels to resolve grievances that consumers may have regarding decisions made by social media sites like Twitter and Facebook regarding the hosting of disputed content. In three months, a three-member Grievance Appellate Committee will be established, and they will work to find a solution within 30 days. Along with pornography, trademark infringements, false information, and other items that may pose a threat to the sovereignty of the country, the government has now added objectionable religious content (intended to incite violence) to the list of items that users can report to social media platforms. Such flag-related decisions made by them can be challenged before grievance committees. “Empowering users. Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) has been introduced for hearing appeals against decisions of Grievance Officer appointed by the intermediary. Privacy policy and user agreements of intermediary to be made available in the Eight Schedule Indian languages,” tweeted IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. “These IT rules are the next step to realising our goals of an open, safe, and trusted, accountable internet,” said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the state minister for electronics and information technology (Meity). “They also mark a new partnership between government and internet intermediaries in making and keeping our Interest safe and trusted for all Indians.” The Internet Freedom Foundation, on the other hand, claimed that the provisions establishing the so-called grievance appellate committees are essentially a government censorship body that would hear appeals against the choices made by social media platforms regarding whether or not to remove content. This would make bureaucrats the arbiters of our online free speech. The statement continued, “This will incentivise platforms to remove/suppress any speech unpalatable to the government or those exerting political pressure and increase government control and power since the government will be effectively able to also decide what content must be displayed by platforms. We urge for a thoughtful consideration by Meity to formulate a rights-respecting approach towards platform regulation. A step in that direction would be to withdraw IT Rules, 2021 in its entirety.”

Microsoft to skill 45,000 women and youth in three years

Microsoft’s CyberShikshaa programme will train 45,000 women in order to close the skills gap in the field of cyber security. Over the following three years, the initiative will give 45,000 women and underserved youth technological skills that will enable them to find employment in the cyber security field. Additionally, it will help to ensure diversity in the nation’s cybersecurity workforce. The Data Security Council of India (DSCI), Tata STRIVE, and the ICT Academy are partners in the CyberShikshaa programme. About 10,000 students will also have the opportunity to participate in internships or jobs under the initiative. According to data, there will be around 3.5 million cybersecurity positions available worldwide over the next three years. This is due to the fact that businesses, entrepreneurs, and governments all over the world feel the need to protect their data. In around six years, there will likely be a 32% increase in the number of cybersecurity positions in India. However, due to a 42 percent shortage in the talent pool, there won’t be enough qualified candidates for these positions. In the previous four years, the Cybershikshaa programme has been effective in training 1,100 women and assisting more than 800 of them in finding employment. The program’s current skill gap will be closed through future programme growth and an emphasis on specialised training for certain sectors.

First of all, we’re not dealing with any commodity and service and we’re nurturing children and that’s why we’ve to be extra cautious and sensitive while nourishing this generation Alpha. To cope with them and utilise their energy for fruitful, positive and productive learning, we’ve invested millions on curriculum development and conceptual learning. Our support ecosystem comprises dedicated teams managing different roles like academics, marketing, admission support, and logistics, which comes together to handhold a franchise partner to empower them tremendously. Furthermore, we have formed various clubs based on their admissions numbers and offer varying privileges. These franchise partners who are now members of 100 clubs, 200 clubs, and 300 clubs were housewives, employees in some organisations, professionals from different backgrounds, and had no idea about operating a preschool earlier. Shanti Juniors also have (JAL) Juniors App Learn, where we were able to divert the energy and attention of our children with our gamified curriculum which enhances the skills of recognition, sorting, identification and revision. It also encourages a child with appreciations, scoring points and applause & cheer on their achievement and it comes with the daily screen time limit lock. Parents have understood the importance of Early Child Care & Education (ECCE) and they strongly prefer a branded preschool chain over the local preschools. As parents understand the importance of structured and scientific approach toward Early Child Care and Education. Happy for contributing to this beautiful journey of childhood celebration.
