Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three National Ayush Institutes on December 11 with the aim of improving infrastructure and promoting research in traditional medicine. PM Modi will inaugurate the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, the National Institute of UnMedicine (NIUM) in Ghaziabad, and the National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) in Delhi. According to the Ministry of Ayush, these satellite institutes will improve research, international cooperation, and make Ayush services more affordable to a larger community. These institutes will aid in the delivery of affordable healthcare to all citizens and to the country’s various regions. On December 11, the Ministry of Ayush will host the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC), which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend. In Panjim, Goa, the event will highlight the scientificity, efficacy, and strength of the Ayush system of medicine on a global level. According to a Ministry of Ayush statement, the development of three new national Ayush institutes in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani would create 400 additional seats for 400 students pursuing UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes, as well as 550 additional beds in these three streams. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa will work to provide the highest quality facilities for UG, PG, and post-doctoral courses in education, research, and patient care services using the Ayurvedic medical system. According to the statement, it will be transformed into an Ayurvedic wellness hub encouraging Medical Value Travel (MVT) and will serve as a model centre for international and national collaboration for academic and research purposes. The National Institute of Homoeopathy (NIH) in Delhi, according to the statement, is the first of its kind to be established in Northern India for the development of the Homoeopathic system of medicine and the provision of health care services. It will work on mainstreaming and integrating Ayush healthcare services with contemporary medications, as well as encouraging R&D and innovation and developing reputable national institutes. The National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, will serve as a satellite center for the existing National Institute of Unani Medicine in Bangalore. Amazon now plans to layoff 20,000 employees: Report

Amazon, the technology and ecommerce giant, was reported to be planning to lay off up to 10,000 employees in the coming months in mid-November. However, according to Computerworld, the company is considering laying off 20,000 people across all businesses and divisions. Employees at distribution centres, corporate roles, and technological functions will be affected by this layoff. According to reports, this will be Amazon’s largest layoff in its history. Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, announced in a statement to the media that the company is considering layoffs but did not provide specific numbers. People working in people experience business physical stores would be impacted, according to him. This layoff is expected to affect all firms, with no specific location indicated. Employees in higher salary bands will also be laid off. Amazon has seven bands, and all are expected to be impacted. It is also said that employees who are laid off will receive a mail confirmation and severance pay 24 hours before their termination. According to the report, one of the reasons for this layoff is that the company, which was employing in large numbers during the pandemic, overhired. Amazon is now sacking employees as a cost-cutting measure in the guise of streamlining the business. Managers in the Company have been requested to investigate performance issues in their teams as a result of the layoffs. Amazon teams are considering relocating the laid-off employees to different roles within the Amazon group of businesses or offering them separation packages. The severance package will include a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits, and outside job placement assistance. Amazon’s ecommerce business has been decreasing. 64 students awarded PhD degrees at 10th convocation of IIT Mandi

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi had its 10th convocation, with 462 students graduating (348 male and 114 female). This year, the institute granted 64 PhDs, the greatest number of PhDs conferred in an academic year at IIT Mandi to date. The institute has experienced an increase in the number of female students graduating from various programmes. This year, IIT Mandi graduated 33 female students in undergraduate programmes, 49 in postgraduate and master’s programmes, 28 in PhD programmes, and four in iPhD programmes, exceeding prior years’ numbers. The chief guest was Prof Stuart R Hameroff of the University of Arizona in the United States. The honorees included Akhilesh Gupta, Secretary, Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi; Kingshuk Banerjee, Director, Hitachi India Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru; and Woochan Chang, Director, KOICA India, New Delhi. “I wish my heartiest greetings to all our graduating students,” stated Prof Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi. “They will become the torch bearer of the Institute. I am sure that their professional competencies and uncompromising character will empower them to lead the society in various ways. Their success will also be the success of IIT Mandi.” “In the coming years, my focus will be to encourage faculty members and research scholars to publish impactful research works that are at par with the best Universities across the world. AIIMS server attack is part of a larger conspiracy by organised gangs: Minister

While calling the AIIMS server attack a “big conspiracy,” Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar speculated that it could be the work of a “state actor” or large organised gangs. Chandrasekhar told IANS that the server attack was definitely part of a larger conspiracy. He stated that the situation is being investigated by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Delhi Police. He went on to say that while the government makes different provisions to protect government institutions from cyber-attacks, AIIMS, as an autonomous institution, hires private agencies to do so. According to him, the government is considering establishing a standard to prevent such incidents, which would be provided to institutions such as AIIMS as an advice, pushing its adoption. The minister described it as a ransomware issue, saying that patients’ data had not yet been leaked, but it had been made inaccessible from the hospital. He referred to it as a cyber security issue. Chandrasekhar went on to say that the government would introduce a Digital Personal Data Protection Bill about data theft, after which victims would be able to complain about their data privacy breach by contacting the Data Protection Board. Samsung has announced plans to hire 1000 engineers in India

Samsung plans to hire 1000+ engineers for its research and development (R&D) institutes across India in order to boost its focus on innovation and new-age technology. In 2023, the new hires will join the Korean tech company’s R&D centres in Bangalore, Delhi, and Noida, as well as the Samsung Semiconductor India Research in Bengaluru. Engineers will be hired from a variety of fields, including computer science and related fields (AI/ML/computer vision/VLSI, for instance), information technology, electronics, instrumentation, embedded systems, and communication networks. Engineers will be chosen from disciplines such as mathematics, computing, and software engineering. All new hires will work on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, image processing, IoT, connectivity, cloud, Big Data, business intelligence, and others. “Strengthening their focus on innovation and cutting-edge technology, Samsung’s R&D centres aim to hire new talent from India’s top engineering institutes who will work on breakthrough innovations, technologies, products and designs, including India-centric innovations, that enrich people’s lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for a “shift in fundamental mindset to benefit humanity as a whole” as India assumes the G20 presidency. PM Modi stated that India’s year-long G20 presidency will be “inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented,” adding that it will encourage an honest conversation on minimising the risks posed by weapons of mass destruction and boosting global security. India began its G20 presidency today by emphasising counter-terrorism and “unity” in addressing global concerns such as the economic slowdown and climate change. The government also tries to develop agreement on debt sustainability and catastrophe and climate-resilient infrastructure. In addition, India’s G20 plans include a special emphasis on startups and bridging the digital divide. Over the following year, India will host up to 200 meetings across the country, with the first taking place later this week in Udaipur. In September 2023, the G20 Summit will be held in New Delhi. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that the G20 platform strives to find common ground among prominent countries on key issues.  “Our endeavor as the G20 chair is to make that consensus more relevant through wider consultation,” he said. For a week beginning today, 100 monuments across the country, including UNESCO world heritage sites, will be illuminated with the G20 logo. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the logo and theme for India’s G20 presidency. The logo features a lotus flower and a globe, and the theme for India’s G20 presidency is “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” emphasising the country’s dedication to ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (world is one family). At the conclusion of the previous G20 summit in Bali on November 15 and 16, India was handed over the presidency of the influential bloc. The Group of 20 (G20) is an intergovernmental forum comprised of the world’s biggest industrialised and developing economies. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union comprise the group. National Centre for Good Governance conducts a training programme for senior JK officials

The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), an apex-level autonomous institution of the Government of India, has begun capacity building programmes for senior officers in the Jammu and Kashmir administration, according to a Personnel Ministry statement issued on Tuesday. According to the statement, the capacity building initiative is scientifically designed to enable civil servants in Jammu and Kashmir to provide robust and seamless services to the people. The cutting-edge knowledge and new skill set obtained throughout this programme will assist these civil servants in providing efficient public service delivery to better people’s lives, according to the statement. In July 2021, it was decided to train 2,000 senior Jammu and Kashmir government officials, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration, and Rural Development (J&KIMPARD) and the NCGG to promote excellence in capacity building and reorient officers of the Jammu and Kashmir government. In order to put this MoU into action, the NCGG has already held three such capacity-building programmes for Jammu and Kashmir officials. In his inaugural address, NCGG Director General Bharat Lal emphasised the importance of translating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of good governance into concrete action. He emphasised the importance of changing the strategy and acting as facilitators to attract investment, encourage entrepreneurship, and increase job creation by assuring public service delivery. According to Lal, “we are living in a highly competitive and globalised world” and as a result, businesses need to be supported in order to attract investment. He asserted that everyone’s time is valuable and that rapid service delivery and time value must go hand in hand. Lal emphasised the obstacles and stated that the reorientation programme will enable officers to give technology-enabled solutions to people’s problems. “The aim is to reorient the officers to enable them to work with single-mindedness to improve the quality of life and create opportunities for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The officers are given exposure to the best practices in governance from across the country to emulate these practices of good governance, transparency and efficient service delivery in Jammu & Kashmir,” the statement said. The fourth capacity-building programme is set at the NCGG campus in Mussoorie from November 28 to December 9. The training modules are produced by practitioners, experts, and academicians in the fields of public administration and good governance, including e-government. The NCGG, established by the Centre in 2014, is tasked with training civil servants from India and other nations. The Centre has also trained a substantial number of officers from Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Gambia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Laos, Vietnam, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Cambodia in recent years.

Hirect fires 40% of its employees as part of strategic changes

That means the startup is laying off over 200 staff. Hirect is a platform that enables recruiters to employ candidates through the app’s audio and video calling features. It focuses on high-growth startups and small companies, finding the best talent without the use of consultants. The Company, which mostly serves the startup sector, appears to be suffering from a slowdown in new hires. According to the company’s LinkedIn profile, there are approximately 472 employees. According to Mint, the Bengaluru and San Francisco-based company employed over 600 people at its peak. Three of the impacted employees were reportedly requested to leave in mid-October, but they have yet to receive their release letters. According to these individuals, management did not meet its commitments and did not provide severance pay or job-search aid. Furthermore, prior to the layoff, the employees were asked to relocate to the Bengaluru office. Meanwhile, management has stated that its first objective is to settle employee dues.
