Sudhakar Joshi, Head – Marketing and Client Servicing, Chrysaalis I-Math India Pvt Ltd, Shares the USP of the Company

“We develop thinking skills in children using different concepts and maths,” says Sudhakar Joshi, Head – Marketing and Client Servicing, Chrysaalis I-Math India Pvt Ltd, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? It’s actually a wonderful program. It’s a good platform because I think it’s time that we start looking at education and technology at a very different level. The new education policy actually looks at creating opportunities where application is involved, and technology, of course. So, I think it’s a very important event that is happening, and I think this for the next decade will set the tone for how things will happen. What is Chrysaalis I-Math India Pvt Ltd. offering for the education sector? Chrysaalis is an Early Learning Program for pre-schoolers where we develop thinking skills. Now with technology or without technology, the most important thing is thinking, right? I mean, if we don’t have the fundamentals of thinking in place, then technology cannot do much. So, what we at Chrysaalis do is we develop thinking skills in children using different concepts and maths. Where we also look at driving away the fear of maths in children. So, when children go to higher grades, they are more confident, and they are able to actually learn other subjects because, as we know, math is the mother of all subjects. So, when a child is good at maths, they automatically get good at all other subjects. So, this is what we try to do at Chrysaalis, and we are a couple of decades old, and we have trained more than 100,000 children, most of whom we are very proud to say do not fear maths and enjoy it. So, that’s our achievement. What’s the USP of Chrysaalis I-Math? Thinking skills development. I mean, that is the core fundamental feature that we work with because, at the end of it, I mean, like Plato said, “I think, therefore I am.” I mean, so the point is because we think, we are. That’s what makes us humans. That’s our differentiating character. So, we want to further streamline this process and make thinking a habit so that children basically reach the potential of their own. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? Great work so far. We’ve been a part of the ArdorComm family. I wish them more success. I wish them greater reach, and I think they’re doing a wonderful job. They should continue to do that and reach out to more places in the country.

Shazia Ahmed, Managing Director, Aryan Presidency School, Emphasizes on Technology Implementation in Schools

“I think textbooks are now outdated, so we need to supplement textbooks with more digital resources,” said Shazia Ahmed, Managing Director, Aryan Presidency School, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? I’m very excited to be here amongst all these dignitaries, and I’m also in the role as a speaker here on the second panel, where I’m going to share my thoughts about how the pedagogy of the new age should be there and adapt to the new curriculum. So, it’s going to be a fun session. How are you implementing technology in your school? We are slowly progressing towards it because our teachers have disparities in technology savviness, and some are not. So, that disparity we are trying to reduce. We have all smart classes, and we are using interactive multimedia systems to communicate with children. I think textbooks are now outdated, so we need to supplement textbooks with more digital resources. So, we are trying to implement that also in our curriculum. How are you doing the teacher training? We’re having a lot of workshops, teacher training programs. We have introduced something which I’ll be mentioning in this event – we are having peer-to-peer mentorship as well. Somebody who already has knowledge in a particular area comes and teaches other teachers. So, we are doing that, and it’s been very successful in our school. As you can see, in this kind of forum, we bring in education leaders, EdTech players, as well as the government. How does this kind of forum benefit the education sector? Definitely, we have to keep up with the times. These forums expose us to the latest things that are available. Like LMS, which has become now an important thing for all of us to start using new technology. Only when we attend such conferences, we get to know we need to explore new options. What other people are doing, we get to know, otherwise, we are just stuck with what we are doing and we are comfortable in that. Now we see other people doing, and then we are like, “Oh yeah, this is there, and we need to upgrade our schools also.” So, it’s quite informative and inspiring. ArdorComm Media has recently completed two years of its existence. So, any wishes or message for us? Congratulations to you and your team. May you do great in the coming future, and I’m sure you’re going to do. I can already see your presence is so nice, and all the best to you for the future.

India’s Phenomenal Triumph: 107 Medals at Hangzhou Asian Games, Fearlessly Facing Asian Giants

India achieved a significant milestone at the Hangzhou Asian Games by securing a total of 107 medals, marking the first time the country has entered the exclusive club of nations with a three-digit medal tally. This accomplishment places India alongside sporting giants like China, Japan, and Korea, although China’s dominance with 200 gold medals remains unparalleled. Nevertheless, India has successfully overcome a psychological barrier with this achievement. PM Modi congratulated the Indian athletes upon achieving the remarkable milestone of 100 medals, through his tweet. A momentous achievement for India at the Asian Games! The people of India are thrilled that we have reached a remarkable milestone of 100 medals. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal athletes whose efforts have led to this historic milestone for India.… pic.twitter.com/CucQ41gYnA — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) October 7, 2023 The medals earned in traditional strongholds such as shooting, hockey, wrestling, and kabaddi played a pivotal role in breaking this barrier. Shooting, in particular, made a remarkable resurgence with 22 medals, including 7 golds, the highest by any participating nation. India’s shooters exhibited exceptional talent and competitiveness, often rivalling China. Athletics also stood out with 29 medals, with javelin star Neeraj Chopra’s consistent performances instilling hope of future Olympic success. However, the ultimate evaluation of these medals is viewed through the lens of the Olympics. Compound archery, despite its dominance, is not yet an Olympic sport, prompting China to pay less attention to it. Sports like rowing and boxing contributed five medals each, but the quest for gold medals in these disciplines, along with wrestling, is an area that requires improvement leading up to the Paris Games. In wrestling, changes were made to enhance safety for women wrestlers, and the absence of gold medals for athletes like Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia calls for introspection on the challenges within the system. Boxer Nikhat Zareen’s missed gold serves as a reminder not to become complacent. A gold opportunity was also missed in golf and badminton. However, India made history with Satwiksairaj Ranki Reddy and Chirag Shetty’s gold in men’s doubles badminton and HS Prannoy’s hard-fought bronze. One poignant moment was Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi’s silver medal, which raised questions about the ongoing issues in Manipur and China’s visa policy affecting Arunachal’s Wushu players. Cricket’s two gold medals sparked controversy due to rain interruptions, casting doubts on the sport’s suitability in multi-sport Games. Notably, Ayhika and Sutirtha Mukherjee’s bronze medal in table tennis doubles, defeating China, and India’s success in table tennis and badminton against strong competition signify substantial progress. India has fearlessly won medals against the might of Asian superpowers, reaffirming its growing presence in the world of sports.

Education Minister Introduces Optional Bi-Annual Board Exams to Reduce Student Stress

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced that students will not be obligated to take class 10 and 12 board exams twice a year. The option for bi-annual exams is being introduced to alleviate the stress caused by the fear of a single opportunity. Pradhan emphasized that this choice will be entirely voluntary, with no compulsion for students to participate. He explained that students often feel pressured, thinking they missed a year or could have performed better, and the new system aims to alleviate that stress. The New Curriculum Framework (NCF), introduced by the Ministry of Education in August, intends to hold board exams twice a year to provide students with more time and opportunities to excel and retain the best score. Pradhan has received positive feedback from students regarding this initiative and aims to implement it from 2024. In response to the alarming number of student suicides in Kota, a major coaching hub in Rajasthan, Pradhan expressed concern and stated that it is a collective responsibility to ensure students are stress-free. The issue of ‘dummy schools,’ where students skip regular schooling to attend coaching classes, was also raised. Pradhan emphasized the need for serious discussions on this issue. Regarding the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), which hasn’t convened in the last three years, Pradhan mentioned that it is being reconstituted to align with the evolving education system and the new National Education Policy. Pradhan also shared that two Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Delhi and Madras, are in the process of establishing offshore campuses, with discussions ongoing with other countries interested in hosting Indian educational institutions. Guidelines for foreign universities setting up campuses in India are under consideration and will be announced soon. Pradhan addressed the objections of states like Karnataka and West Bengal to the National Education Policy (NEP), suggesting that these objections are more political than academic. He emphasized the focus on synergy between education and skills to equip students with both academic and practical abilities for the 21st-century workplace. This includes the establishment of skill hubs and the implementation of the Academic Bank of Credit to enhance students’ mobility across higher education institutions and integrate skills into a credit-based system.

Dr. Puttaraju, Vice Chancellor, Mandya University, Shares his Views on New Normal Karnataka

“I think higher education in the country, particularly through Karnataka and Bangalore, is doing a really fantastic job,” says Dr. Puttaraju, Vice Chancellor, Mandya University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? I’m really happy to be part of this New Normal Education Summit in Karnataka, and the effort made by ArdorComm in bringing these different people who are really experienced in this education together today and having a meaningful interaction section is really appreciable. We usually think in silos, you know. I being in the education system for the last 35 years, and unless I interact with my peers, it is not possible to come out with meaningful solutions to the Indian higher education issues. In this direction, I’m really happy to congratulate and compliment ArdorComm Media for having made a good effort and bringing all the people here. From morning till evening, we have a couple of sessions and a lot of interactions. I hope we all come together and meet the aspirations of the country through different people. And as I said, our experience should be integrated in a very meaningful way and see that higher education in this country is recognized everywhere and worldwide. I sincerely thank you all and thank ArdorComm Media for this great opportunity. As you know, the theme of our event is New Normal Karnataka, and Karnataka is an education hub. So, what’s your take on this? In fact, the entire India, if you compare, Bangalore is known for its higher education quality. Not only in Karnataka, not only in India, the entire world, people usually refer to Bangalore as a place for higher education. I think unmatched quality education is there. It is not because of the students; it is because of the culture and ecosystem created by everybody. Not necessarily education institutions, even people like ArdorComm and everybody are coming into this platform to spread the message about education. I think higher education in the country, particularly through Karnataka and Bangalore, is doing a really fantastic job. As you can see, in this kind of forums, we bring in education leaders, the EdTech players, as well as representation from the government. So, how does this kind of forum benefit the education sector? In fact, when we get to exchange our ideas, for example, I interact with a couple of people, and I came to know that after 35 years of experience, there are a lot of solutions available to our problems. We keep on dwelling on our problems, thinking for the solutions, and that is the domain for somebody else, and somebody else is there to give the solutions. And this platform definitely brings in all these problems and solutions together. Now, I know that there are a couple of solutions to my problems, and definitely this platform and this collaboration will help us to understand each other much better, and we can give very quality education to our students and the country. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed 2 years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? I’m really happy, within two years, you are making so much noise. I think by the time you complete a decade, 10 years, your presence will be felt by everybody. I hope you continue your services like this and help us bring in different people, including meritorious students and staff members, along with the administrators, so that there is meaningful interaction happening there. I wish ArdorComm Media a grand future in the years to come and hope it will do some service to society through these meaningful interactions.

Yeah, it is good that you are organizing education leadership summits, which integrate management professionals, academicians, and education leaders in one common platform. In that direction, you are doing a wonderful job, and I am happy for that. How are you implementing technology in your institution? I am representing CMR University in Bangalore, and we focus on enhancing our students’ skills, making them well-educated professionals. We also inculcate various skills that are relevant to the industry and higher studies, preparing them to be global professionals who can tackle future challenges. Take it forward, because the ultimate beneficiaries should be the students, the next-generation leaders. They should gain confidence, acquire skills, and learn to solve societal problems and tackle future challenges during their campus life. Encourage collaborative work, integration with students, faculty members, and industry professionals. Prof. Noor Afza, Prof. & Chairperson, Dept. of Studies & Research in Business Administration, Tumkur University, Highlights the Emphasis on Entrepreneurship in the University

“We aim to mentor the students to develop entrepreneurial talent,” says Prof. Noor Afza, Prof. & Chairperson, Dept. of Studies & Research in Business Administration, Tumkur University, in an interview with Pratik Ghosh, Content Writer, ArdorComm Media at the ‘New Normal – Education Leadership Summit & Awards 2023’ #ELSABengaluru #ELSAKarnataka How are you feeling to witness the New Normal Education Leadership Summit and Awards in Bengaluru? I entered here, and I saw the kind of leadership and the way they had organized the systematic way. The kind of feeling that I got is totally different. Here, it is a place where we have created a platform to meet different leaders from schools, colleges, and as well as from the industry. So, there is a blend of all the people, a blend of different ideas and thoughts. It gave a very different feeling for me. Could you provide some background information about your institution and elaborate on the steps you’ve taken under your leadership? I’m a professor, and chairperson of the MBA department at Tumkur University, situated in a place called Tumkur, 70 kilometers from Bangalore. Tumkur University is a State University, and we have 23 departments. This University provides quality education to rural masses because the students we get are from rural areas. We leave no stone unturned to provide them with quality education, focusing on employability. In my MBA Department, we give skill-oriented training, nurture students with experiential learning, and build their confidence to help them secure dream jobs in companies. Does your University also emphasize entrepreneurship? Yes, entrepreneurship is one of the very, very important parts of our curriculum. We provide training as the student enters the department. We start providing training in entrepreneurial skills, and we have an incubation centre. In this centre, we nurture the ideas among the students. We have tie-ups with various institutions, organizations, as well as government offices like CAVES, the KSFC, DIC, etc. We invite these people to our campus, and they come to train our students and conduct workshops for them. We aim to mentor the students to develop entrepreneurial talent. We also have a unique program where we conduct an “Entrepreneurial Week” within the department and campus. During this week, students are completely immersed in entrepreneurial activities. They set up their own offices, engage in business activities, and then share their learning experiences with us. The aim of this initiative is to ensure that at least a few students get the idea that entrepreneurship is not just a risky and challenging path but also one where they can become job providers rather than job seekers. We want to convey to them that they can become successful entrepreneurs and even the wealthiest individuals in the country, as entrepreneurs often are. In this way, we motivate students, especially those coming from rural areas who may have preconceived notions that money is a constraint. Many of our students have gone on to become very successful entrepreneurs through this program. How do forums like this benefit the education sector? These forums are crucial. In today’s world, with technological advancement, they provide a platform to develop students and integrate technology into education. Collaboration with organizations like yours can offer technological support and bridge the gap between academia and industry, helping us meet the changing expectations and grooming our younger generations. ArdorComm Media Group has recently completed two years of its existence, any message or wishes for us? Just two years, and you’ve done a wonderful job. In the days to come, I wish ArdorComm Media Group continuous growth and success in reaching every level of education, from primary to university, benefiting every student. Your services are much needed, and I wish you all the best for the wonderful work you are doing, collaborating with schools and higher education and involving industry professionals. Lots and lots of success for the growth of this organization.

Ministry of Education Invites Applications for 2023-24 NMMS Scholarships for Classes 9-12

The Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy has initiated the registration process for the National Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the 2023-24 academic year.
