Delhi traffic signals will soon display timers and speed limits

In order to facilitate and effectively manage traffic, Delhi’s traffic signals will soon have electronic signage displaying timers and speed limits. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has ordered officials to install these devices at all traffic crossroads throughout the city. During a meeting to review city traffic management, Saxena gave these instructions and also ordered officials to strictly enforce lane discipline by heavy motor vehicles (HMVs). It stated that lane enforcement exercises were even more pertinent and crucial on routes where trucks were permitted late at night and early in the morning. In addition to ensuring fewer inconveniences for travellers and preventing corruption, he emphasised that minimum manual enforcement interventions will also help to reduce traffic congestion at locations where commuters are randomly stopped for inspection and challan issuance. The L-G vowed to take action to have the ideas for road engineering settled as soon as possible with the city’s numerous roads owning agencies, including PWD, MCD, and NDMC, among others. Additionally, he emphasised the significance of a citywide traffic flow that requires little in the way of human enforcement or challans. “It was suggested that the information in this regard, listing the names and contact numbers of traffic personnel deployed, could be posted on the traffic portal of Delhi Police,” according to a statement from the Raj Niwas — L-G’s secretariat.  “The L-G also underlined the importance of similarly posting such details of the beat staff on duty for easy access of the people of the city.”

Jio places the highest EMD in the 5G auction at Rs 14,000 crore, while Adani places Rs 100 crore

According to information released by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Monday, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Bharti Airtel, Adani Data Networks, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have each made earnest money deposits (EMDs) of Rs 14,000 crore, Rs 5,500 crore, Rs 100 crore, and Rs 2,200 crore, respectively. The EMDs are a component of the applications that the applicants submitted to the DoT in order to take part in the upcoming 5G spectrum auction, which will begin on July 26. The EMD quantum provides the applicant with eligibility points, based on which it can target a given quantum of airwaves in select or all available bands in specific or all circles, and is therefore a good indicator of a company’s bidding strategy and spectrum purchasing capacity. According to analysts, a telecom can typically target spectrum in the 5G sale that is worth up to eight to nine times their individual EMDs. According to the EMD filings on the DoT website, Jio has accumulated 159830 eligibility points with the highest deposits, while Airtel has accumulated 66330. Adani, a recent entry, has 1650 points compared to Vi’s 29370 points. The earnest money deposit suggests that Jio, the largest telecom company in India based on user volume, may be placing extremely aggressive bids in the upcoming auctions, but Adani Group might be attempting to acquire the barest amount of spectrum necessary to build a private network. Adani Data Networks’ EMD of 100 crore indicates that they have a low and limited requirement for spectrum.

Disgruntled employees across Indian airlines due to poor compensation

Pilots, technicians, and other airline employees have been systematically reporting ill to show their displeasure. The main problem is that the pandemic-affected employees’ salaries have not yet been raised to their pre-pandemic levels. Carriers all around the world were obliged to cease operations when the pandemic hit and international borders were sealed. Layoffs and wage reductions were also used by Indian carriers. Many workers received unpaid leave orders. The majority of employees have also been dealing with greater workloads since travel picked up, which only serves to exacerbate their discontent. They have come to the realisation that they are working just as hard, if not harder, than they were before the pandemic, but receiving much less pay. That explains why the staff of IndiGo and GoFirst, and later the technicians as well, took a collective leave of absence. The workers are not only concerned about the pay reductions; they are also angry about the lack of incentives, the fact that their salaries are not raised when they receive promotions, and the fact that they are sometimes not paid on time for their salaries. Stress and annoyance appear to be rising as the crew is frequently asked to fly on their designated weekly off days as well. There are allegedly more aeroplanes in the industry than there are pilots, engineers, and technicians combined. That implies that aircraft are also not being used to their full potential. Additionally, a lot of qualified and certified aircraft engineers are given the title “technician,” which by definition brings in a lesser salary—often less than 50% of what they should be making. As if that weren’t bad enough, there have recently been numerous technical problems and safety issues on Indian local and international flights. An Air India Express flight had to be diverted to Muscat after a burning smell was noticed in the cabin on an IndiGo flight that had to be diverted to Karachi due to an engine malfunction. Due to some strange vibrations in the engine, another flight was diverted, and in one event, a bird was discovered in the cockpit!

‘Captain Vyom’ from Doordarshan will be turned into a web series

Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd will remake Captain Vyom, an Indian television series that aired on DD National in 1998 and was created by Ketan Mehta and starred Milind Soman, into a web series. After two difficult years of the pandemic, filmmakers and content producers are trying to appeal to consumers by using feel-good, humorous stories and nostalgia. There are plans to revive comedic classics like Govinda’s 1998 comedy Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Angoor, a modernised version of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors. Sense of nostalgia has always been a terrific emotion to harness, according to experts in the media and entertainment, and feel-good classics will appeal to both older and newer audiences. The superhero television series Shaktimaan, which ran on DD National in the late 1990s, will be recreated by Sony Pictures, and content firm Applause Entertainment will consider animated tales based on Amar Chitra Katha. The increase in vintage movie and song listeners and viewers during the pandemic relates to the love of the quaint and antiquated. Happy stories can always be revived, according to media industry experts, who point out that new streaming platforms in India have started to cater to older audiences, including the 60+ population, in a big way, making these feel-good classics easy to market. Nostalgia related to sad stories may not work, but happy stories can always be revived. There have always been resources and properties that can be used for a long time while simultaneously appealing to fresh audiences and energies. Each new generation considers how it might reinterpret these formats for the time being. You might reflect fondly on a simpler time in the past and find solace in the familiar because it brings back memories.

Free Covid precaution doses will create healthier country: PM Modi

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government’s decision to provide free precaution doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to all adults over the age of 18 will increase immunisation rates in India and lead to a healthier nation. All citizens over the age of 18 will receive free precaution doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations beginning on July 15 and lasting for 75 days, according to Union minister Anurag Thakur, who announced the initiative after the Union Cabinet approved it earlier in the day on Wednesday. Modi stated in a tweet, “Vaccination is an effective means to fight COVID-19. Today’s Cabinet decision will further India’s vaccination coverage and create a healthier nation.” According to an official source, less than 1% of the target population of 77.10 crore people between the ages of 18 and 59 have received the precautionary dose so far. Wipro announces a raise of 10% and quarterly promotions

The Indian multinational software giant Wipro has announced that the majority of its employees will receive a 10% raise in September in an effort to reduce attrition. On the basis of pay scale, the top performers can even get an increment of more than 15%. Additionally, the company plans to run promotions every three months. These announcements are a part of Wipro’s efforts to increase the number of young people working there and lower turnover rates. According to reports, promotions will begin in July and continue every quarter up to middle management. Wipro has seen significant attrition for a long time. It was far higher than other IT majors in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2022, at 23.8%. Analysts projected high attrition. Rishad Premji, chairman of Wipro, stated a few weeks ago that the company is more focused on growth today than ever before and that it is counting on alliances, acquisitions, and cloud projects to boost growth in the near future. Wipro has recently concentrated on Wipro FullStride Cloud Services. In order to provide its stakeholders, including clients, partners, and cloud professionals, with an integrated and comprehensive cloud transformation capacity, Wipro’s chief growth office has partnered with other worldwide business lines. The IT services provider revealed a month ago that it anticipates expanding its employees in Norway from 85 to 350 over the course of two years. In order to do this, it is also stepping up local investment to provide customers pursuing digital transformation with improved support.
