Its revenue has increased, and its workforce has tripled. It now has “a strong growth plan lined up for the financial year 2022-23 driven by the multiple fold growth we achieved in FY 2022. We have set up audacious but achievable plans in tango with the growing EV ecosystem in India and abroad,” added Lewis.

Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Director- Innovation & Incubation Linkage, Savitribai Phule Pune University emphasizes on the motto of setting up the start-up innovation cells

I would call this as new order of education because we all are tired of the concept of rote learning says Dr Apoorva Palkar, Director- Innovation & Incubation Linkage, Savitribai Phule Pune University in an interview with Chandan Anand, Founding Editor, ArdorComm Media Group at the ‘ArdorComm – Higher Education and Edtech Conclave & Awards 2022’ #HEETPune What is the motto of setting up an Innovation & Incubation Linkage at SPPU under your leadership? It has been a great pleasure in leading this initiative in a 73-year-old university and this is a start-up in a 73-year-old organization. Building everything from scratch, from zero and bringing it to a level where we now have about 340 colleges, where we have setup the start-up innovation cells. We are building a culture of innovation in the grassroot which is through the colleges and the students. Along with that we are also trying to spot innovators from the open market. We are also trying to reach out to people from the government to find out where are the problems and what is the kind of solution that the market today is looking at. So, this is kind of trying to build in the capacity for people to have originality of thinking, that’s the outline or underlined motto for us. According to you how much should we rate to the innovation and skill development apart from the regular studies in the regularized curriculum of institutions? I think what we are building here is a new order of education. I would call this as new order of education because we all are tired of the concept of rote learning. Everyone is talking about how can we get away from the rote learning, where everything is governed by marks and at the end of the day placements. This is what the innovation cell is trying to do and build up in the college ecosystem, how we make people think, how do we make faculties think and how do we get them away from a cut paste model. So that’s what we are trying to do through all our initiatives. We are happy to see and spot more than ten thousand ideas under the University of Pune and there are a lot of people who are coming forward to also reward them. Its just not about recognition of an idea but how do we commercialize this is also very important. On one side people say that you need to be creating job givers but how will the job givers be created unless you have an ecosystem that helps entrepreneurs to kind of build the companies. So, this is what we are trying to do in short.

UGC to revise draft learning outcome norms to align with NSQF

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to make minor changes to the draft regulations, which, once adopted, will define the learning outcomes associated with each level of higher education qualification and allow for credit transfer across institutions and courses. Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, the chairperson of the UGC, said that the commission decided to revise the draft regulations, which were made public in January, to maintain equivalence with the country’s technical education guidelines. Simply said, the National Higher Education Qualifications Framework (NHEQF), which is currently being revised, establishes what a learner should know after completing a course, which can range from certificate programmes to PhDs. It also establishes the minimum credits required for a student to pass a course and advance to the next level. The qualifications were initially organised on a scale of five to ten in the draft NHEQF. “However, the above is not in tune with the NSQF in which the levels are organised from 4.5 to 8. Since UGC’s draft NHEQF has levels from 5 to 10 as explained above, it will create operational problems for the vertical and horizontal mobility of learning by prescribing the entry requirement for each qualification, prerequisites for lateral entry, and validation of prior learning outcomes achieved,” said Prof Kumar. As a result, the NHEQF will use the 4.5 to 8 scale, he stated. Prof Kumar added that the UGC will convene a series of meetings with university administrators beginning May 25 to discuss the plan to revise the draft. The updated scale was created in accordance with the proposed four-year undergraduate programme structure, which will provide students with several entry and exit choices, allowing them to earn anything from a certificate to a degree with research depending on how many semesters they complete. ArdorComm- Higher Education and EdTech Conclave & Awards #HEETsouth #HEETbengaluru

We are in the midst of a significant social and economic transformation, fuelled by incredible developments in automation and artificial intelligence, as well as unprecedented data and computation access. These technologies have an impact on practically every sector of our economy, including healthcare, banking, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and many other occupations. These advancements, like earlier industrial revolutions, have the potential to deliver enormous advantages to society and, in the long term, contribute to massive prosperity. Innovations will also change the future of labour, increase skill bias from previous decades, and contribute to a widening gap between the best and the least educated in society. To make the learners adaptable and aligned to the industry needs, it is the need of the hour to re-imagine the higher education in the 21st century workplace by focusing on expanding the boundaries of education, skill and employability. ArdorComm Media Group, as one of India’s fastest-growing media companies, is here to explore the prospects of educational innovation, future trends, and the existing scenario in order to stimulate important discussions among significant education, technology, and government stakeholders. Chandan Anand, Founder, CEO & Group Editor of ArdorComm Media says, “While some professions will be mechanised and others will be drastically altered as a result of technological advancements, we equally realise that new markets, sectors, and employment will emerge, some of which we cannot possibly envision today. Individuals at all stages of their careers should view learning as a lifetime endeavour in today’s fast-paced industry. We need to know what changes should higher education and its stakeholders do to ensure that the workforce has the core competencies and abilities it needs today and in the future?” To address these issues and discuss the desideratum in the Higher education sector, ArdorComm Media, is coming up with the ‘HIGHER EDUCATION and EDTECH CONCLAVE & AWARDS 2022’ #HEETsouth #HEETbengaluru as a ‘PHYSICAL EVENT’ in Bengaluru on 15th July 2022. As new sectors emerge and existing ones expand and collapse dramatically, the skills required to keep up are changing at a faster rate than ever before. Educators and higher education administrators must approach skill competency with a growth mindset that will assist students throughout their careers and in the global knowledge-based economy. There is an apparent need to educate the next generation about rising digital capabilities and how to create, build, and properly use technology. At the same time, students in the 21st century must learn how to approach challenges from several viewpoints, foster and use creativity, communicate effectively, and use critical thinking. These non-automatable “human” abilities are vital in a future of work that is continually evolving, and their value will only increase as automation becomes more prevalent. First two cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Canada

The first two cases of monkeypox virus infections in Canada were verified by Canada’s public health ministry on Thursday, after authorities in Quebec province announced they were examining 17 suspected cases.  Monkeypox has been recorded in several countries recently, including Portugal and Spain, with a case in the United States identified by Massachusetts public health officials on Wednesday in a man who had just gone to the Canadian province of Quebec.  “Tonight, the Province of Quebec was notified that two samples received by the NML (National Microbiology Laboratory) have tested positive for monkeypox. These are the first two cases confirmed in Canada,” in a statement, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) claimed that monkeypox had never been seen in Canada previously. Monkeypox is a rare viral infection that is similar to human smallpox but is milder. It’s most common in western and central Africa. It was first discovered in the 1970s in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the previous decade, the number of cases in West Africa has grown. Fever, headaches, and skin rashes that begin on the face and progress to the rest of the body are among the symptoms.  Earlier on Thursday, health officials in Montreal, Quebec’s largest city, told reporters that there was a link between a case of monkeypox in Massachusetts and a few suspected cases in the Montreal region. According to the PHAC, a US citizen who recently travelled to Canada by private transportation “may have been infected before or during” his visit to Montreal. Source: Reuters
